For those who are looking for pleasurable, yet simplistic, anal toys, the G Plug is going to be a good fit. Made from silicone and entirely rechargeable, this vibrating plug offers optional wireless vibration control (or it can be controlled via the plug itself as well). The plug offers six vibrational patterns with controllable intensity, and it’s entirely waterproof. It also offers a couple hours of use on a full battery charge. While the G plug is offered in both a small and a large size, the small size is what is pictured and what was used for this review. The small plug has a diameter of 1.1″ while the large one has a diameter of 1.5″.
The packaging for the G Plug is pretty simplistic. It comes in a cylindrical tube with Styrofoam on the ends to protect the toy inside. Popping the top off will reveal the plug. The packaging also includes a storage bag, a magnetic charging cable that plugs into any USB port for charging, and the instructions. The packaging isn’t discreet, but it’s pretty durable, and it could be used for long-term storage of this wireless vibrating butt plug.
As far as butt plugs go, the GPlug was designed to get in, be useful, and feel awesome. It doesn’t have a lot of difficult frills to mess with. There’s a single button on the base that allows you to change the vibrational settings or put it into wireless control mode. There’s also a magnetic port on the base that allows the vibrator to charge. That’s it. The rest of the vibrating butt plug is made from a nice, thin, slick layer of silicone that glides nicely against the skin. The plug is particularly rigid, and it has a nice, thin retention area that keeps the plug in particularly well. The base does feel a bit thick compared to other anal plug bases, but the base isn’t thick enough to become uncomfortable between the cheeks. It’s definitely noticeable, though.
When it comes to sizing, the small size is going to be a good size for anyone – even beginners. At slightly over an inch in diameter, the plug isn’t particularly huge. In fact, it will slide into most people without much of a problem. If you’re particularly experienced with larger anal toys, you’ll find that the plug doesn’t provide much stretching or fullness. It does, however, provide nice, pleasurable vibrations – even without a huge size. If you’re used to regularly-sized anal toys or regularly have anal sex, the “large” G Plug is probably a better fit for you than the “small” one. However, if you’ve never had anal sex or are still very new to the activity, the “small” size is still small enough to work well for you.
Once inserted, unlike some plugs, this silicone vibrating butt plug stays in the butt with minimal fuss. This is most-likely due to the very-large difference in size between the plug itself and the retention area. It means that it’ll feel particularly stretching going in and coming back out, but this design is fantastic for keeping the plug in the butt with minimal focus on the plug. You can wear this plug without underwear or clothes, and you can walk around with no problem. The plug won’t slide itself out, and while you’ll feel its presense, you won’t feel like you constantly need to tense your muscles to keep it in. It’s an effortless, yet noticeable, presence.
There’s never any reason to worry about batteries as well. The G Plug is equipped with a rechargeable battery. The magnetic charging port on the base clicks effortless to the magnetic charging cable. It’s not a strong enough magnet to support the entire weight of the plug while holding onto the cable (like some magnetic charging ports can do), but it’s enough that the charging cable stays attached pretty decently unless you mess with it. While charging, the LED light will blink to let you know it’s currently charging, and it stays on when the toy is finished charging. It takes about an hour and a half to fully charge the toy.
The product page offers differing information about the longevity of the battery. In our practical use, we find that, when using the plug wirelessly and on various speed settings, we get about two hours of near-constant use before the plug dies. (The plug always dies before the GRing does). Some of the product literature says the plug will provide 40 minutes of use on the highest setting, and some of the literature says it will last 4 hours. It seems like reality is somewhere in between there.
The G Plug silicone butt plug offers enough vibration choices to work for most people. The toy offers six various patterns – including a steady vibration mode. Each of these six various patterns can be increased or decreased in intensity. You can enjoy a pulsation mode at the strongest vibration possible, or you could choose to enjoy that pulsation at a soft buzz. It’s really up to you. The vibrations aren’t particularly loud. They can’t be heard in a relatively quiet restaurant, but they can be heard when in a completely silent room. They can’t be heard outside a room. The vibrations definitely lean towards the side of “light” and “buzzy” vibrations, but as most people don’t expect the vibrations to be deep and powerful for their anal stimulation, this is acceptable. They are definitely still pleasurable and quite noticeable during wear.
While the GPlug is an okay butt plug on its own, where it really begins to shine is when partnered with the FunToys GRing. The GRing allows you to wirelessly control the vibrations of the G Plug. This allows for a lot more flexible use – you don’t have to be able to touch the base of the G Plug in order to change the vibration levels. It allows for more hands-free and effortless control during sexual times, and it also allows for some discreet public play as well.
I’m not particularly fond of the GRing vibrator on its own, but it can be purchased by itself. The GRing vibrator is a small vibrator with a ring design. It can slide onto any finger for a finger vibrator. The shape feels a bit awkward, and it tends to provide light, buzzy vibrations – which is not what most people are hoping for in a finger vibrator. Where it shines, though, is its ability to wireless control a few select toys from the FunToys line. The G Ring is one of them. The two items will need to be purchased separately, but in my opinion, I’d have loved to see them purchaseable as only a set. The G Ring doesn’t hold much interest for me on its own, but when partnered with the G Plug, it makes a wonderful wireless butt plug set.
To connect the two, you’ll need to hold down the power buttons on both toys. With a bit of fussing, you’ll learn to control and connect the two without too much of an issue. The G Ring will allow you to scroll through the patterns and the pattern intensities on both the G Ring and the G Plug. The G Ring can vibrate at the same time (and on the same pattern) as the G Plug is doing. This would allow two people to play together – or someone to use a clitoral vibrator while enjoying the same vibrations for anal stimulation. I personally find the G Ring vibrations to be frustrating, and I’ll promptly turn it back off (especially when I just want to use the ring vibrator as a remote), but you can control the G Plug with the vibrating ring with or without the ring vibrating itself.
Once you have the two paired, you’re going to be impressed by how well the wireless capabilities work. They easily work through clothes when in public. They worked across a restaurant while the partner was in the restroom. They are a bit sluggish when you add more layers of clothing or more space between the butt plug and the remote, but they still work impressively. When used naked and next to one another for sexual play, they work instantaneously and have no issues.
While I’m very impressed by the wireless capabilities of the GRing and GPlug, I’m hoping some changes may be made in the future to make it more “public play” accessible. Like mentioned before, the wireless capabilities are fantastic. However, there are some problems when playing with this set in public.
For one, the on/off button for the anal plug is a large button on the base of the plug. When sitting on hard surfaces (such as a wooden chair), the plug easily gets turned off or on if you don’t have the padded of a larger butt to ensure the plug’s base doesn’t touch the chair. This can be frustrating in public as, if you accidentally change the plug’s control method from “wireless remote” to “solo use”, the plug will continually vibrate without any way for the remote holder to turn it off. You may need to excuse yourself to press the button and get it back to wireless – or to turn it off.
The other complaint is with the design of the G Ring itself. While the G Ring is fantastic in size (it fits perfectly on a picky and can be somewhat-hidden with a closed fist), if part of your fun of public play is turning the vibrations on and off at various moments in public, on occasion, when turning the vibrations on, the G Ring will turn on the vibrations for the ring itself. As the ring’s vibrations are much louder than the plug’s, this tends to be awkwardly obvious in some public environments. At the same time, the G Ring has a blinking bright blue LED light that blinks on the ring anytime the ring is controlling the plug. While this lets you know that it’s successfully made a connection to the plug, it doesn’t do anything more useful. It doesn’t tell you what setting you’re using or what intensity you’re using. In fact, all it does is draw attention to the remote while you may be trying to be discreet.
When it comes to cleaning up your new silicone toy, you’ll want to use warm water and anti-bacterial soap. As the butt plug is entirely waterproof, it’ll make it pretty easy to clean without worrying about getting water in various spots. Water-based lubricant is your best choice for this one, but we’ve used a couple of silicone-based lubricants on this without any problems (just make sure to spot test in advance). For storage, you can store them however you’d like. As the G Ring and G Plug are pretty small in size, it makes them easy to shove them in a satin storage bag with one another until you’re ready to play with them again.
Overall, the FunToys G Plug is a pretty good little plug, but it really shines once you get the G Ring and partner the two. The G Ring allows for wireless control of the vibrations – and the wireless control works amazingly well. While I have some qualms about how well this can work in public, in private, this set works amazingly well, and I have no complaints. You’re looking at two toys that are durable, can provide lots of pleasure, and will be relatively frustration-free. Thanks to FunToys for providing the GPlug for review.
