Well, that’s a mouthful, isn’t it? I thought it’d be extremely hot to have my boyfriend hobbling around in these leg irons while trying to complete the regular household chores that I require of him.
The leg irons are great leg restraints. They are black in color (it looks like the color was painted on). They are quite hefty, and that’s the first thing you will notice when you take them out of the package. They do weigh a little over a pound which doesn’t sound like much until you actually have them in your hands. The two cuffs are connected by a sixteen-inch chain that runs between the two. The cuffs go as small as two and a half inches and also go out as widely as four inches. Remember that that’s only length – the actual metal of the cuffs won’t allow them to go past three inches in width. They are both very durable and both include one keyhole on both of the cuffs. That equals out to 7 inches to 11 inches in circumference, respectively.
The packaging is a nice little plastic cylinder with two caps that go on both sides. The caps stay on amazingly. In fact, one has a hoop around its cap that allows it to hang off store shelves, and the cap stays on perfectly. There’s a little inserted paper from Kinklab on the front that gives basic information about the cuffs. I personally keep the cuffs in this little plastic container because it works best for my use and to store this sex toy. You just have to close the cuffs up to the smallest setting they will go to get them to fit into this container after you first take them off.
Like any regular handcuffs, they are of adjustable length. You just push them into what you want, and if you went too far, you keep pushing until it goes past the point of locking then you swing it around, and try it again. It’s just like any set of regular handcuffs.
The keys seem pretty stable. This includes two keys that will go to the handcuffs. They don’t seem amazingly strong, but they don’t seem like they’ll be breaking either. These aren’t police-grade, but they seem like they will be lasting me a long time. The paint hasn’t started to chip off, and with all of the use and especially with them clanging against each other, nothing has harmed them in the slightest.
It says they are double-locking. These cuffs actually are double-locking, but not in the traditional sense. If you turn the keys one way in the lock, the cuff will come off. If you turn the key the other way in the lock, the cuffs end up becoming double-locked. (Double-locked means that, if the leg iron happens to get weight put on it, it will not get any tighter then it already is.) They actually do double-lock like they are supposed to, and even while trying to apply weight, it doesn’t look like these BDSM restraints will be getting any tighter than they already are. It looks like you can count on the double-locking feature to keep you safe.
As for actual wear: My fiance tried wearing these for awhile for some femdom play. While sitting down or completely stationary, it didn’t bother him to wear these at all. In fact, he said the cold steel against his skin felt downright erotic. However, if asking him to do chores or anything that required moving, the cuffs would cut right into his ankles. If I made them looser, they’d just slide down and cut into lower parts of his ankles. It appears that nothing I do will keep these from cutting into his skin if he moves around while he’s wearing them. So on that note, it wasn’t horrid, but it was painful for him to keep these on unless he was stationary. With that having been said, I’ve also had fun putting one cuff around a stationary object like the leg of the futon and another around his foot. That didn’t harm him in the slightest, and he found his arousing to be trapped like that. (I mean, you really can’t get out unless you have the key. There’s no pulling out of these.)
They are pretty loud if you touch the metal together or drop them somewhere. When it comes to actual wear though, you can barely hear them unless the metal manages to rub against itself.
For safety’s use, you should always have some bolt cutters around when playing with metal products just in case the key doesn’t work like it should or if something gets caught on. You don’t want to be having to make a late-night run when you find out that, in the fits of passion, you lost your key and your partner has to return to work in a half-hour. Safety also dictates that you avoid using these cuffs for anything really rough because metal is unforgiving. You don’t want to end up cutting into a nerve and causing nerve damage just because you were too rough with these leg irons.
Since the Double-Lock Police-Style Leg Irons are made of metal so if you want to wash them, go ahead and wash them with some warm water and some antibacterial soap. It could also withstand a run in the dishwasher or being boiled. However, unless you are using this in some way I’m not predicting, you should barely ever even need to rub it down with the soap if you’re using it with the same partner. If not, a clean down between partners would help.
Overall, I recommend the Double-Lock Police-Style Leg Irons to anyone who is a fan of bondage. This is really hot and for some unknown reason, they always manage to be cold which makes for a great mental sensation. If you want something that your “prisoner” can move in, however, you may want to consider something else, since these hurt for movement. If your prisoner can stay stationary, though, these are amazing, high-quality handcuffs that will probably be with me for a long time.
