The Cupcake Vibrator, made by Shiri Zinn and sold by TabuToys adult toys, is an adorable mini vibrator about three inches in height and about four inches in width. Made of a type of silicone (not sure if it’s pure 100% silicone), this vibrator uses two AAA batteries to run and includes five different vibration settings including two steady vibration patterns.
The packaging for this Cupcake Vibrator is adorable. It comes in a metal tin that is red and has white polka dots all over it. The tin just plainly says “cupcake” and “shiri zinn” on the outside, and it doesn’t give away the contents inside, so it would work really well for storage. At the bottom of the tin, there’s a cute little booklet that opens up and explains how to operate the vibrator. The two AAA batteries come already-loaded in the vibrator. This packaging is really cute and very-much suitable for storage of your new treat.
The design for the Cupcake Vibrator is very straight-to-the-point. It looks like a cupcake! That’s exactly what it’s designed for. The entire vibrator is made from a silicone material that has a slight bit of drag to it, but for the most part, it’s very soft. The frosting portion is really slick while the “wrapper” portion has realistic ridges in it that make the vibrator easier to hold. The shape does have a lot of nooks and crannies would require more thorough cleaning than a traditional vibrator, but for the most part, I’d say that Shiri Zinn did a fantastic job of making a semi-realistic looking vibrator.
This dessert vibrator uses two AAA batteries which ARE included. The “wrapper” part of the cupcake just twists off of the “frosting” part of the cupcake. Inside the wrapper, there is a spot for two AAA batteries. Two AAA batteries already come in the vibrator – you just have to remove the small slip of paper inside the compartment. The compartment marks which way to put in the batteries and everything. It’s quite simple to switch out the batteries, and it’s even very simple to do mid-session if need be which is something that not many vibrators can boast.
To control this, there’s an area on the base of the vibrator that’s the button. You just use this button on the base of the vibrator to press down and scroll through the vibration settings. This button is completely flush with the silicone, but there’s an etching of a power button that allows you to easily locate it in the dark just by touch. This button presses down really easy, and I like the fact that it really doesn’t “disrupt” the cute cupcake design since it’s on the base and out of the way.
The vibrations on the Cupcake Vibrator are actually surprising. They aren’t the very weak, very-surface vibrations that most “playful” vibrators like this type tend to have. They aren’t the strongest, but they aren’t weak either. They’re slightly stronger than moderate, and they’re the rumbly type vibrations that can be felt “under” the skin. So while they aren’t nearly as strong as some of the “real vibrator” types that are shaped like vibrators, they are stronger than most of the other type of “cute vibrators” out there that are shaped for discretion. On another positive note, the vibrations are on the quieter side as well. They could probably be heard in the same room (depending on what music you have playing), but they can’t be heard outside of a closed door, so if you require some discretion, the Cupcake Vibrator can provide that.
The biggest issue with the Cupcake vibrator is exactly how to hold it to get the most benefit of the vibrations while trying not to numb your hand – or feel like it’s an uncomfortable grip. And that, unfortunately, is one of the biggest downfalls of the Cupcake Vibrator. A cupcake is just an awkward shape to have up against your body. People don’t really “full-hand” grasp a cupcake – because it’s awkward and it’s really difficult to do.
What seems to work best, though, is using either the flat end of the vibrator (the base of the cupcake where the control button is located) or using the frosting-part. However, because of how the vibrator is designed, you really can’t get pinpoint stimulation. It’s just too large for that. It vibrates the entire area, but you really can’t get clitoral-only stimulation. This also means that it vibrates your hand pretty intensely, too, and after using it, I definitely can get that numb-feeling in my hand. But I never had an issue with the vibrator slipping out of my hand just because of the weird shape; it makes it harder to slip but a bit more awkward to grasp.
To clean this vibrator, you have to be very careful. That’s because this vibrator isn’t waterproof or splashproof, so getting any sort of water inside the vibrator could destroy it very easily. So while washing it, be very careful. It can be cleaned with warm water and antibacterial soap. It’s only compatible with water-based lubricant, and I recommend storing it in the original storage tin that it comes in; it doesn’t seem to pick up too much lint or dust, though, so if you have something else in mind, it would probably be fine there, too.
Overall, compared to most “playful” vibrators, the Shiri Zinn Cupcake Vibrator is actually pretty good. The vibrations are a bit stronger than moderate, and they’re deep and rumbly vibrations. The design of the cupcake looks pretty realistic, and the vibrations are quiet. However, the Cupcake Vibrator can’t provide pinpoint stimulation and its broad size does lead to some hand numbness during use, so definitely keep that in mind as well. Thanks to TabuToys sex toys for providing this discreet vibrator for my Cupcake Vibrator review.
