The Camouflage Star Crop is a long, two-foot Ruff Doggie Styles crop sold by FunWares. The crop is made from leather, nylon, and cotton. The star on the tip of the crop is camouflage in color and about three inches across. The crop is flexible and also comes with a hanging strap for easy storage. The crop is medium in length, and it can be used for bedroom use or for BDSM scene use.
The Camouflage Star Crop doesn’t seem to have any specific packaging. It doesn’t come in any sort of bag at all, and FunWares did a great job of shipping it without letting the crop get bent or warped. This BDSM toy does come with a little tag hanging around the hanging strap, but it can easily be removed with scissors. The company’s name for this crop is “Camo Starz Crop”.
This crop seems to be made with quality in mind. The leather along the handle is nice and braided. It’s also softened, and none of the leather seems to be unraveling or anything. The hanging strap is also made from softened leather, and the hanging strap is tight enough to hang closely up against the handle of the crop when not in use. It can also be used a wrist strap if that’s your thing. The shaft of the crop is made from a flexible material (probably plastic), and it’s covered in a layer of braided nylon that looks really nice. None of the threads of the nylon are fraying. The Star on the top of the crop is made from a cotton and leather; it’s cotton on the front with the camouflage design and plain black leather on the back of the star. The star is attached to the rod through tightly wound string that, in my past use of crops, has never detached from the rod. The front side of the star does have a little star plastic decoration that seems to be sewn on. However, we haven’t had any issues with it looking like it’s going to fall off.
This crop is actually really, really nice. I’m surprised. Ruff Doggie Styles crops are usually hit or miss. They’re never really crappy, but they sometimes just aren’t what I’d like in my crops. They sometimes end up being too long and too flexible which makes them very unwieldy. This Camouflage Star Crop isn’t – at all. Instead, the crop is nice and supportive. It has a slight bit of flexibility in the body of the crop (like you’d expect), but it isn’t so flexible that it ends up feeling like you can’t aim the crop correctly. It ends up being the perfect amount of flexibility honestly.
Handling this Star Crop actually is really easy. The handle is braided, so the crop doesn’t end up slipping out of your hands. The handle is about the perfect size for a variety of different hand sizes. It easily is long enough and big enough for my feminine hands while a masculine hand would have no issue handling it either. The hanging strap can be used as a wrist strap for those who are afraid of throwing the crop. (If you are, you probably shouldn’t be using it. Just sayin’.) The handling is really nice. The crop goes pretty much where you aim it. It’s flexible enough to give a bit of sting without ending up becoming unmanagable. If you ask me, the handling of this riding crop is basically about what I’d consider to be a “perfect crop”.
How does it feel? Stingy. This is definitely a stingy crop. The handle is flexible enough to allow gravity to help out with each swing. It will definitely leave a sting on your partner. It *can* hit hard enough to leave bruises, but it probably won’t leave welts. However, you’d have to be hitting really hard – repeatedly – in order to even begin to cause bruising. For most swings, it’s just going to be a bit stingy without any marks. The neat aspect of this crop is the plastic heart decoration in the middle of the star. This little star can definitely be felt during use. If you hit hard enough, you get an adorable little star imprint left on the area. Along with the little star, it’s very easy to feel the edges of the crop – the little points of the star can be felt and are probably the most stingy aspect of the crop.
The crop can be used in a gentle manner that won’t give *much* sting, but no matter how you use it, you are going to get a little bit of sting. I wouldn’t say that it’s a bad thing though; it’s a riding crop, and that’s really its purpose is to give that slight bit of sting. You can use it lightly for just a gentle amount, or if you put more force into it, you can use the crop roughly and cause bruising. Because the crop is pretty gender-neutral in colors, this makes a good crop for pairs who like to switch.
I’d recommend keeping this away from bodily fluids. Because of the materials, if it comes in contact with bodily fluids, it is then fluid-bonded to that partner, so be careful. For washing, you can use a slightly damp washcloth to wipe it dry. For storage, I highly recommend that you use the hanging strap on a hook somewhere in your home. Otherwise, lay it flat somewhere, but don’t pile things on top of it since that will warp the shape.
Camouflage Star Crop is a perfectly-made riding crop. The crop is the perfect amount of flexibility, and it ends up leaving a stinging sensation. It’s one of the better riding crops that I’ve tried. It’s pretty gender-neutral in color, and if you enjoy camouflage, this crop is just really cute. For those wanting a riding crop, this toy ends up one of the ones that I’m going to recommend to a lot of people. Thanks to Funwares for sending me the Camouflage Star Crop for review.
