bSwish bWarm Massage Candle Review

The BWarm after use

UPDATE MAY 2020: I miss the hell out of this massage candle. I still think it had one of the best pour spouts in the entire massage candle industry. However, the BWarm is no longer in production. This review remains as a reference for those who are curious about the candle. (While I hoard the few I have left)

I’ve been hearing great reviews about massage candles, and since Jor and I once tried wax play (with regular candles) with not-so-great results, I figured it was about time that I gave some massage candles a chance. Plus, then you don’t have to peel off the wax with a credit card and it functions great for a massage. Sounds like a win-win situation.

bSwish makes the bWarm massage candle. It’s a 1.75 fl ounce candle that comes in a cute soft container. Because of the shape of the container, you can easily pour the wax onto yourself/your partner without making any sort of a mess. The base holder of the candle is firm because the candle is in it, but the upper lip is very flexible (you could probably bend it in half.). The candle itself was white, but because I ordered the Patchouli/Rose scent, my candle holder actually ended up being a nice, soft pink. Taking it straight out of the box, I was extremely surprised by enjoyable and overwhelmingly nice the scent of the candle was.

The pretty box

The scent is great for this candle. I can’t speak for the other scents, but the Patchouli and Rose scent smells absolutely amazing. It’s not too overpowering, but you can definitely smell it on everything it came on (including the instruction manual and the box). When the candle is sitting out (at least, for the first few days) it’s possible to smell the scent throughout the room. When the candle is burning, the scent is extremely obvious. You will also be able to smell it on your hands/your partner’s skin after you’ve finished with the massage. Overall, the scent itself is orgasmic, and I’m attempting to find a non-massage candle to burn that has the same scent.

It can be used very sparingly and give a great massage. You only need a couple drops to lubricate your partner’s skin enough to be able to give a great massage. However, I love wax and used more of it then I needed to. It works great to slicken your partner’s skin and allows you to glide your hands over your partner. It doesn’t feel sticky in the slightest. In fact, I actually really enjoyed feeling it on my hands. However, after you’re done with the massage, I do recommend you wash your hands since it will make this slick and near-impossible to hold anything.

It can be used perfectly for pouring. Notice the burn mark if you try to turn it upside down while it’s still burning.

My boyfriend reports that it makes for a great massage. Since we had had problems with the heat of regular candles, he was afraid these also would be too warm with his skin. However, the candle wax was about room temperature by the time it hit his skin, and he reports that it was comfortable to feel on his skin. After we finished, he left it on his skin and also reported that it made the skin of his back feel very soft. It appears to have moisturized his skin, even a little bit, even after he’s showered.

My only annoyance is attempting to wash it off. I jumped in the shower afterwards and soaped up and everything – the scent still remained after I was out of the shower. Which, of course, I don’t mind (aside from looking like an idiot continually sniffing my hands at work ’cause they smell good). But if you weren’t fond of the scent, it could possibly be a problem and you may want to lather up and rinse a couple times before it will fully go away.

It really did work great as a massage candle. It only took about three minutes of burning before there was enough wax for us to play. The first time – we blew out the candle and played with that for about a half an hour. Then we lit the candle again and this time I dripped the wax with the candle still lit. (Warning: The instructions state plainly NOT to do this. It’s because the wax will be burning at a hotter temperature because it’s currently burning. I tested the still-lit wax on the back of my hand before I poured it on him. Because we’ve had experience with non-massage wax play, the temperature was alright for the two of us – it may not be good for you.) Either way, the wax was a comfortable level at that temperature, and we used it for about another half-hour before I blew it out and called it good. I used quite a bit of wax in this time period, so I’d say that we have about fifteen more uses or so before we run out of wax. If you use it sparingly like the directions indicate, you will get a lot more uses out of it. (The product statistics say it will burn for ten hours.)

The ingredients are: Coconut oil/wax, Soy oil/wax, Shea butter, Palm wax, Beeswax, Jojoba oil, Aloe Vera, Vitamin E Oil, and Fragrance. Overall, no deadly ingredients. In fact, half of those are included in most regular hand lotions. The boyfriend (or my hands) didn’t report any skin irritation, but if it does happen, wash it off and discontinue use. (It’s rare.)

I’m also very surprised by the lack of a mess. Massage oils can tend to slip off the body and get on the carpet. This stays exactly where you drip it, and I didn’t have to put down a drop cloth or anything. If you are unsure of your aim, you may want to, but otherwise, this massage candle (aside from the slickness of your hands) will be virtually clean-up free.

As for care – this candle wax has an extremely low melting point, so keeping it right next to the window in the middle of a hot summer will probably mean you will come back to a melted candle. Keep it in a cool area like on a bookshelf out of direct sunlight. You could also choose to use another candle in this holder after this one melts, but honestly, I think I’m going to clean out the holder and use it to throw my spare change in. (Get rid of spare change and it will smell good. Sounds win-win) You can’t purchase refills of the wax, but I would have no problem just purchasing an entire new candle – they’re really worth the money.

Overall, I was surprisingly impressed with this massage candle. BSwish really did make an amazing product with this candle, and I’m sure I will be using the BWarm candle quite a bit anytime I feel like getting or giving a massage. It works great – maybe even better than most massage oils since it isn’t runny and doesn’t make a mess.
