This is the first sexual book I ever actually bought, and I must say that it was because of the cover. While the name of the book just jumps out at you, the texture of the book is actually one of the most unique things about it. It’s made out of a very light rubber (and honestly probably the reason why the book costs so much). However, it’s definitely one of my favorite books to show off just the sole reason of the cover. I suck at judging weight, but I would say this book is probably about two pounds and it’s just the length of my hand and barely half an inch thick.
The back of the book does include a explanation of the book, but it’s only a sticker. This disappointed me because the book is made out of rubber. Rubber tends to bend. And thus, my sticker on the back now has creases in it that make it look more well-worn than it really is. However, even knowing that in advance, I wouldn’t have let that small factor deter me from purchasing the book.
It really is a short book. I don’t think it was meant to be long. About a third of the book literally is just pictures. However, they’re beautiful fetish pictures, so I can’t say that I minded that much. I’d say that most would finish reading it under an hour.
I’d definitely call this book a conversation starter. If you and your partner are looking for some new kinky ideas to try, this is the book to purchase. I’d also recommend this for anyone more interested in some of the fetishes that are out there. There’s great ideas (and amazing pictures that make the ideas look fun). However, it is definitely not an how-to book – it’s meant to be very basic explanations of most of the fetishes in existance. The pages aren’t regular pages – they feel like photo-print paper and generally feel very expensive.
If you’re not into BDSM, I wouldn’t fear – most of this book doesn’t even touch on BDSM. Some of the fetishes described are mostly applied in BDSM scenes, but a lot of it is stuff that can just be done on its own. It’s definitely not meant to be considered an extension of BDSM practices.
It does touch on lots of different fetishes. Some of them that included: S&M (and how to do it), dressing up, gender play, pony play, puppy training, bondage, foot worship, wax play, balloon fetish, cock and ball torture, and a general dictionary of all sorts of unique fetishes and their descriptions. It also has a nice little section about fetish art and where to find it.
I would say this is a great start to anyone wishing to look into the world of fetishes. It’s mostly for someone interested in fetishes – not for someone seeking information. There’s pretty pictures to help you understand and understand why it’s sexual, but there’s very little to say about safety in much of the passages.
All-in-all, I wouldn’t say it’s an amazingly informative addition to your collection, but it’s definitely something should be there just for the thrill of owning and showing off such a pretty book. It’s nothing like the traditional book, and that’s part of the reason why I really did enjoy reading it. Plus, it’s a good reference book for when you forget what something is or want more detail on it.
If this book sounds like a good purchase to you, you can find it at the sex community Eden Fantasys. They also have some other good books you could check out. They also have some prettier pictures of the book at their adult toy store.
