Berman Center Danae Review

Berman Central Danae
The packaging for the Danae

The Berman Center Danae Clitoral Vibrator is a wand massager sold by TabuToys. It’s part of the Dr. Laura Berman Intimate Basics series which is a series sold and made by CalExotics. The massager is about a foot long, and it’s shorter than the Hitachi, but it’s still not as small as some other traditional vibrators. Unlike other popular wand massagers, this wand massager is powered by batteries instead of plugging it into the wall. This vibrator does have three speed settings. The entire wand is made from plastic; the head of the massager is made from the velvet-cote plastic which makes it soft to the touch.

The packaging for this is pretty basic. It’s a clear, see-through box that includes the vibrator inside on a slide-out tray. This box’s plastic is pretty flimsy, so I wouldn’t use this for long-term storage for the wand massager. Since the wand massager is made from plastic, it doesn’t pick up lint or anything like that, so storage is not really a big issue.

This wand massager is not powered by a plug-in cord. Instead, it takes three C batteries. I don’t know about you, but I had to go hunting around the house to find three C batteries; it’s not something I keep on hand when I’m purchasing a vibrator. You should keep that in mind before purchasing this wand massager. It wouldn’t be nearly as strong on AA or AAAs, but it may be something you need to purchase beforehand. I do enjoy the fact that the massager is not tethered down by a cord. This is not waterproof, but it can move wherever you’d like to use it. It’s probably a bit big for travel purposes though.

The vibrator has three different speed settings. It has a low, medium, and a high. There are no patterns or anything. There are two buttons on the front of the vibrator. There’s an “Off” button and a dedicated vibration level button. The “off” button always turns it off, and to turn it on and cycle through vibrations, you just press the vibration level button. The vibration levels are relatively quiet – for a wand massager anyway. The low and medium settings couldn’t probably be heard through a closed door, and the highest setting – it depends. If you have the vibrator applying pressure somewhere, it seems to make the vibrations quieter. If you have the vibrations applying pressure, the highest setting probably couldn’t be heard through a closed door.

The vibration controls

So how do the vibrations compare? As you can imagine, the vibrations don’t really compare much for when you consider that most wand massagers plug-in for their strength. It doesn’t compare to the Hitachi – not at all. Even the highest setting on the Danae is weaker than the lowest on the Hitachi. However, for being C-battery run, it’s not bad. The thing is that I think some of the other C-battery-run vibrators that I own happen to have about the same amount of strength, and those vibrators are much smaller and easier to hide. If you enjoy having the large amount of area on the head of the vibrator or like the idea of owning a wand massager, this one is worth it. It’s also really easy to control, and the head of the vibrator feels pretty soft up against the skin.

I personally didn’t mind the vibrator. No, it’s not as strong as the Hitachi, but the vibrations that it includes are nice and rumbly and should be enough for the average woman. This is not a good alternative if you require Hitachi-power, but if you just want to try a wand massager, it’s not a bad choice. The handle is really easy to grip, it will move with you around your house, and the head of the toy covers a nice, large area and vibrates really well. The vibrations of the sex toy don’t “creep” into the handle of the wand massager either, so your hands aren’t going to go numb from the strong vibrations.

Cleaning this vibrator is pretty easy. You just need to use warm water and antibacterial soap. Be careful though; this vibrator is not waterproof, so you should avoid getting any water in any of the seams. This is compatible with all different types of lubricant. For storage, it doesn’t pick up lubricant or anything, so you just have to store this wherever it will fit. It should fit in an underwear drawer with no problem. It also would fit under a bed.

Overall, it’s okay, but I’m not amazingly impressed. It’s a bit bulky (since it’s a wand massager), but it doesn’t deliver that much more power than a C-powered traditional vibrator would. I wish it also had more speeds than the three speeds, but that, again, is pretty common for a wand massager. The velvet-cote head is comfortable and pleasurable to use, and it’s easy to clean as well. I just wasn’t as impressed as I have been with other wand massagers. Thanks to TabuToys for sending me this Dr. Laura Berman Intimate Basics toy for my Berman Central Danae wand massager review.
