Rock Box Vibrator Review

Rock Box Vibrator
The Rock Box Vibrator box

The Rock Box is a brand new, industrial-strength vibrator sold by FunWares. It has a 5,000 RPM motor which shakes over five times harder than the average washing machine. It includes six different power settings, and it includes attachments for both male and female use. It’s powered by electricity, and it includes a 16 foot power cord for use. The Rock Box itself is about eight inches in width and about six inches tall, and it weighs about three pounds. It includes an easy-to-grasp handle for usage. The Rock Box itself is made of plastic while the attachments are made of rubber.

The packaging definitely lets you know that you purchased a Rock Box. The box is bright red and black, and it says “Rock Box” on the outside. It includes the attachments, the power cord, and the vibrator on the inside. It also has an instruction manual. I normally would recommend keeping the vibrator in its packaging, but honestly, getting the power cord and the Rock Box to go back into the packaging is a downright nightmare, and it’s much more trouble than its worth; it’s packaged okay to get to you, but the average person won’t want to take the time to get it to go back into the box after you’ve unraveled the power cord and such.

So, this vibrator looks like a power tool. Insanely! I can’t even really “explain” how much of a “did they get this idea from a drill?” you’re going to get when you go to use this sex toy. At about three pounds in weight, it definitely “feels” like a power tool as well. It does come with a handle to make it easier to use, but this sex toy does require some upper arm strength if your masturbation sessions tend to last awhile. With that in mind, it’s worth saying that this sex toy will not work for you if you require softer vibrations, quiet vibrations, or have wrist problems that keep you from lifting a lot of weight. It also may not work the best in partner situations (Oh, Mr. One-Night-Stand, look at my favorite vibrator!), but if your partner knows about it ahead of time, because of the two different attachments, it does function as a couple’s sex toy as well – it’s just not one of those toys you can easily use during intercourse with someone else.

The Rock Box is powered by electricity, so it does come with a power cord – an insanely heavy-duty power cord. This is because it’s not supposed to use an extension cord, so keep that in mind. This power cord is 16 feet long, and it’s not those whimpy, “small” cords. We’re talking industrial, thick-sized cord here. I had this out on my desk to review, and I didn’t see the Rock Box laying out (only the cord), and I thought my partner had brought out one of his power tools to do some work on my desk. Seriously – it looks very industrial. The power cord plugs straight into the Rock Box for use, and the Rock Box must stay plugged in for use. As you can imagine, this means that the Rock Box is not safe near any type of water.

The Rock Box comes with two different attachments – one for males and one for females. The female attachment looks like a tongue, and it extends itself away from the Rock Box to allow you to use more pinpoint stimulation (as using something flat would give you more diffuse stimulation). The instructions say that it works for g-spot pleasure as well, but as it’s pretty darned tiny and completely straight, I don’t think that’s accurate. However, the “tongue” does allow you to easily put the strength of the Rock Box vibrations into one area.

The other attachment is a “male” attachment. This attachment is a flat piece with ridges that run the length of it. Instead of being a ‘sleeve” that the penis inserts to like most male sex toys are, this piece is intended to allow the male to press the flat surface up against the underside of the penis and just enjoy the full strength of the vibrations up against the underside of the penis. The ridges allow the user to thrust up against the attachment if they want, and with lubricant, you could slide up against the attachment. It doesn’t give that full “completely hugging the penis” sensation that most male masturbation toys go for, but it does have the intense amount of vibrations that will probably be able to get most guys off.

The vibrations are insanely intense! They are very, very, very rumbly – much more than any other vibrator I’ve ever felt. When you place it up against an object that has some move-ability, you can actually physically see the object shaking and moving – even on the first setting. It’s much, much more than I’ve ever seen with any other sex toy before. The first setting will probably be enough for most women to orgasm easily (if you respond well to rumbly-type vibrations), and with most guys, if you’re used to vibrations as a way to orgasm, the second and third setting should really easily do it for you.

The vibrations are controlled pretty basically through the design of the Rock Box vibrator. There is a button near the handle that presses down to turn on the vibrations, but once you do that, there’s a small turn-dial near the base of the handle that changes the vibration strength. There are six different strengths. The button pushes down easily, but the dial can be a bit difficult to change with lubricated hands, so that’s something to keep in mind before using it.

Of course, with a design like this and the strength like it is, you knew Rock Box was going to be loud, didn’t you? It definitely can be heard outside of a closed door, and it definitely can be heard in the same room. It sounds a bit like a small kitchen appliance. It’s not nearly as annoying as the sound of a blender (and also not as loud), but it’s something that is very clearly heard in most situations.

In use, for the female, the tongue-type attachment works okay. It definitely is a learning opportunity to learn how to get the tongue to get in the right place when you have this huge vibrator attached to it. Again, you definitely have to use some upper arm strength to keep this vibrator up and running just because of the weight and the design of it. Something I personally noticed was that you want to make sure to keep a bit of slack in the cord. If you don’t have any slack in the cord, the cord does unplug relatively easily from the vibrator itself – it’s happened on more than one occasion. As for the vibrations, though, it’s definitely a “new” type of sensation – one that is easily orgasmic, and one that is easily felt throughout the entire lower body during use. The “tongue” does make the vibrations pretty darned “pinpoint”, though, and if you aren’t used to serious intensity, it can definitely be too much. For that, I recommend that you use this with clothing (which is what the guide recommends also) or just use the male attachment which will spread out the vibrations over a larger area.

For male usage, my partner definitely agrees that it’s not quite the same as a regular vibrator. He says it’s a completely different type of vibration. He says it doesn’t feel like a vibrator – it more feels like how a washing machine would feel if you were laying up against it. He mentions that it definitely takes “relearning” as the Rock Box got rid of the traditional vibrator’s look and style in exchange for some extremely powerful vibrations. He mentions that the male attachment does tend to work better for penises, but if you are a guy that likes the perineum vibrated, the female attachment does much better for that. He recommends either holding the Rock Box in place for vibrations with it or making sure to lubricate it if you want to rub up against it.

Handling the Rock Box vibrator is where the biggest downside is. This vibrator is just really, really large and really, really heavy! For that reason, it’s definitely much larger and more difficult to use than your average vibrator. It can be difficult to use at first, but once you really get a “pattern” going on, it gets much easier. If you can spare both hands, I find that it works okay to grip it on both sides instead of just using the single hand to hold on the handle. It’s really up to your own preference, though – just be aware that this vibrator is hefty and really doesn’t allow you to do much else aside from using the vibrator.

Of course, I know everyone is going to compare this to the Hitachi – the “strongest” of them all. And Rock Box definitely compares. It’s kinda weird, actually. It almost makes the Hitachi feel buzzy. As my partner put it, the Hitachi’s vibrations are pretty localized in one area while the Rock Box’s vibrations tend to go even further under the surface for deep-muscle vibration that can be felt much further. For example, when I placed the Hitachi on my palm on high, I can feel the vibrations mostly in my palm and slightly up my wrist. When I do that with the Rock Box, I can feel it intensely on my palm as well as all the way up to my shoulder. It just has this insanely, amazingly rumbly vibrations.

Cleaning the Rock Box can be slightly difficult just because of the large size and the fact that it is an electric sex toy. The instructions say to slide off the attachment and clean it, and the Rock Box itself can be wiped down with a damp wash cloth, but it can’t be put under any running water. It’s compatible with all types of lubricant, but try to keep the lubricant away from the sockets. For storage, because of this this electric vibrator ‘s huge size, you’ll have to use special considerations for storage. The cord is really long and requires extra thought for storage, so you might want to have a spot in your drawer for storage for it.

Overall, if you really want some insanely-deep vibrations and are okay with a large vibrator, the Rock Box does a good job. The cord is long enough to reach pretty much anywhere, and the vibrations are insanely deep. It does require some forethought about your preferences, but it’s definitely the most rumbly vibrator I’ve ever tried.
