UPDATE MAY 2020: The FunFactory UFO is no longer in production – what a weird little guy! This review remains as a reference for people who are interested in this old FunFactory toy.
The UFO is a new Fun Factory vibrator. It’s a small plastic and silicone vibrator in the shape of a UFO – hence the name. It is about three inches long in both height and width, and it’s circular. It is rechargeable via the FunFactory Click’n’Charge charging system, and it’s waterproof as well. It comes in both a light red and a sea blue color scheme.
The packaging for the UFO sex toy is a switch-up on the traditional Fun Factory packaging that most toys used to come in. Instead, it now comes in this hip, pop-art-looking packaging that displays a picture of the toy as well as text about the toy and the features. Inside this slip-cover, there’s a discreet, plain cardboard box that holds the UFO inside. Inside this box, there is also two different storage pouches for the UFO – one pouch is a tulle-like material while the other is a satin pouch. The tulle pouch comes inside of the satin pouch, so I imagine the tulle-one is to keep the satin’s fuzzies from sticking to the silicone of the UFO while the satin pouch makes the UFO still be discreet since tulle is see-through. That’s a guess though. Either way, it looks very elegant, and the packaging is much smaller and compact than previous FunFactory packaging, so I like this change of packaging.
The UFO has this really unique shape. It really does look like a little UFO. The bulb (the part where the aliens would “beam” from) is very firm silicone and has the motor underneath it. The “wings” of the sex toy are a bit more flexible and plushy, but they still hold their form well and do not “sag” at all. The toy can not “stand” up straight – it will always fall to one side to support itself on its “wing” because of the circular shape. The controls are opposite the “bulb” on the plastic, white portion, and the charging port is also on the plastic white portion.
The FunFactory UFO is rechargeable through the FunFactory Click’n’Charge system. This is a lovely recharging system because it connects via magnet which means the toy has no holes which could allow water in. The UFO’s backlit lights will blink while the toy is charging which does require you connect the magnet of the charger to the magnetic port of the UFO. It’s not hard to connect the charger, but you do have to be a bit finicky with it as, unlike other FunFactory toys which really “lay down” or “stay put”, the UFO can be circular on its little “wings” with any movement of the surface it’s sitting on, so it can be a bit finicky with the charger. Once you get a good position for the vibrator, though, the charger connects wonderfully, and as this shares the same charger as other FunFactory toys, you only need to keep track of this one charger for all FunFactory Click’n’Charge toys.
The FunFactory UFO has very simple controls. There is a plus sign, a minus sign, and a star sign. The plus and minus make the vibrations go up and down while the star sign will launch the vibrator into the patterned modes. In previous FunFactory toys, this button was used for the “boost” button which may confuse some people, but it now is being used to allow the user to easily go into the patterns that the FunFactory UFO includes. To return to steady vibrations, you just have to hit one of the + buttons. I had previously mentioned that, in my review of the Yooo vibrator, the buttons could be hard to press. That is no more with the UFO. The buttons respond really nicely to touch, and they feel very natural for usage – I love the control interface for this vibrator.
The vibrations for the UFO are centered in the UFO-projected portion of it – y’know, the part that would be beaming down aliens if this was a real UFO. The wings do get part of the vibrations, but it isn’t nearly as strong in the wings.
I was kinda disappointed with the vibrations. They are pretty on the buzzy side, and they don’t seem very strong. They seem much stronger if you don’t apply pressure, but once you do apply pressure, the vibrations seem to get weaker. I’d call these vibrations moderate at best, and they weren’t, for me personally, anything that could be used for more than teasing. The vibrations can not be heard outside of a closed door (as long as you don’t have paper thin doors – but it is louder than a cell phone’s vibrations), but it can definitely be heard in the same room on the higher settings.
The shape of this toy means that it really doesn’t work for pinpoint stimulation in certain positions or if you really only like one minute area to be stimulated. The UFO vibrator could be turned sideways, and you could use the “wings” of the UFO for more direct stimulation, but honestly, the vibrations don’t seem to travel too well into the wings, so that doesn’t work as well as I initially thought that it would. If lighter vibrations are what you’re after, though, the wings may be okay for pinpoint stimulation.
For most, though, it seems like the most practical use of the FunFactory UFO is going to be using the broad area of the base. This broad area is where the vibrations are centered and where they are the strongest. This area is small enough to fit for pinpoint stimulation if you have a spread-leg position for use, but if you are sitting or have the legs together, the UFO will be too large for too much direct contact. The broad area of the UFO does a good job with giving you a good area for stimulation.
What the UFO does seem to do well is giving you a good vibration around a large area with some weaker vibrations in the surrounding areas (which are usually sensitive to touch on the vulva as well). The strong, larger bulb can be placed on the clitoris while the “wings” of the UFO can stimulate the surrounding area which seems to be the best use of the shape – and with that, it actually does a pretty good job.
To clean the FunFactory UFO, you’ll want to use warm water and antibacterial soap. As this is waterproof, it’s really easy to clean it off, and it doesn’t take too much care to clean it. For storage, I recommend keeping it in the pouch as the FunFactory material does tend to pick up dust and fuzzies if it isn’t kept away from them. It’s compatible only with water-based lubricant if you want to slicken things, and because of the shape, if you want to protect it, you’ll probably want to use a glove as it will not fit in a condom.
Overall, the FunFactory UFO does have a slight learning curve where you’ll have to learn how to use it, but once you’ve figured out the best use for you, the shape does a pretty good job. The controls are simple to use, and the buttons respond well to touch. I just wish that the vibrations on the FunFactory UFO were a bit stronger as it currently leaves me wishing it had stronger levels.
