The Mimosa Elysian Candle is a six ounce candle that is in a triangle glass. The candle is drug and cruelty free as well as completely body-safe. It contains no parabens, mineral oils, petroleums, dyes, phthalates, or preservatives. This candle has the “Mimosa” scent, and it has an over-30 hour burn time (if you don’t use the wax for massage purposes). The candle is both for scent as well as the wax can also work for a massage oil.
In their little included candle guide, Mimosa is described as “A refreshing Tangerine/Plum Cocktail”. I don’t know about you, but that’s most certainly not my favorite scent. In fact, if you ask me, it just basically smells like a sweet, cream orange scent. I’m not very fond of it at all, and we’ve burned it for review, but I don’t think we’ll be burning it after that. We’ll probably give it away. In case you were curious, the “Confetti” scent is “A light sweet vanilla” (I wish I had this one), and their “Aloha” scent is “Coconut/Lime/Verbena”.

The scent of this candle is pretty strong as well. Once you light the candle, you’ll be smelling it in the surrounding areas for awhile. It easily filled up our entire, small kitchen with the scent. It even started moving into the next room over. It’s not an overpowering scent, but it’s definitely noticable, and as long as you like the scent itself, it will be pleasant. As I’ve said, I really dislike this scent, so it’s just annoying to me, but if you like Tangerines or Oranges, this will end up being a good scent for you.
The candle comes in a triangle-shaped glass. I like this shape. It actually makes it lend itself better to massage uses. You see, this candle is also a massage candle. That means that, when the wax is melted, it can be slowly poured over the skin to be used as massage oil. The triangle-shape actually helps with this. If it was circular, it’d much less effective at pouring. However, since there are three “points” to this candle, you can choose a point and pour the wax through. You do have to be a bit careful since the candle, because of the three points, is a bit harder to hold though.
The candle should be left burning for about a half an hour before use. You can set it burning ahead of time, or you can use the candlelight to do foreplay before you start into your massage adventures. Once the wax is fully melted, you can blow out the candle. Once the candle is blown out, wait about ten seconds, then you can hold up the candle and drip the wax onto your partner. (I highly recommend dipping a finger into the wax to check the temperature before pouring it onto your partner.) Once it’s poured onto your partner, you can rub the softened wax into your partner’s skin as a massage oil. The instructions also say that you can use a spoon to spoon the oil onto your partner, but I find it’s really hard to get the wax completely off the spoon afterwards, so I usually avoid that method.
So how well does it work? Well, the wax does dry up somewhat quickly, but it does do a decent job of acting as a massage oil. However, make sure to pour out all of the massage oil you need right at the beginning because the candle itself hardens up pretty quickly after you blow out the candle. If you think you’ll need more oil, re-light the candle just to be sure. The wax moisturizes the skin pretty nicely. It works for about ten minutes of rubbing the oil into your partner’s skin, and it makes your hands glide really easily. The scent will be pretty strong once you rub the candle into your partner’s skin though, so again, make sure this is a scent that you’ll enjoy. Afterwards, as long as you didn’t pour too much, the oil doesn’t feel too waxy on the skin. It’s noticable and makes the skin more slick, but it doesn’t feel gross enough to want to wash off right away.
You can smell it on your skin afterward. Right after, it’s extremely strong. You can feel it on your skin for awhile afterward, but it becomes a lot more subtle. I didn’t feel that it left the skin more moisturized, but it did leave a bit of a scent, and as long as you are light with using the candle wax, it doesn’t leave your skin feeling too waxy.
Ingredients of this candle: Soybean Oil, Coconut Oil, HempSeed Oil, Apricot Oil, Jojoba Oil, Avocada Oil, Vitamin E, Phthlalate-free Frangrence with essential oils
Overall, I think it’s a quality candle that would have been a lot better for me if I had liked the scent. This was definitely not a scent I was fond of, but the candle itself and the wax seemed okay, so I think I would have liked this candle in other scents better.
