The Love Rope Wrist Cuffs in Black are soft, rope-made cuffs sold by Spankys XXX. It comes in a variety of colors including red, pink, black, and purple. This is a pair of wrist cuffs, and most people’s ankles are going to be too large to fit into these cuffs and to still have a lot of wiggle room between the cuffs. The cuffs are made by Topco and are made from silk rope. Each cuff has a small plastic adjuster that allows you to change the size of the cuffs. Each cuff easily adjusts down to the size of just two fingers or will even fit most skinnier people’s ankles (plus-size ankles may not fit so well.) Along with the cuffs, this also comes with a small booklet about bondage.
The packaging is very basic. It’s a plastic blister pack that just has enough room for the cuffs and the small booklet to sit. The packaging isn’t very suitable for storage since it’s much larger than the cuffs themselves. The front of the packaging shows a woman half-dressed playing with the silk rope cuffs. The backside of the packaging shows the features of the silk rope cuffs.
The cuff is a neat little invention. It’s made from the silk, soft rope that Topco uses for their Japanese Rope line. The rope is frayed in places and some of the threads are jagged off of the main rope piece. It was one long piece of rope – now the rope is a giant circular piece of rope since they used electrical tape to tape the two ends together in the middle. The electrical tape doesn’t look as attractive as I’d hope it would, and it definitely brings down the “look” of the cuffs quite a bit. To make the cuffs larger, you just pull on the rope of the cuff pieces, and the cuff will get larger. To make the cuff smaller, you pull on the middle piece while wearing the cuff to get it to the right size. It’s very easy to make smaller – not as easy to make larger, so I recommend you start off with the cuffs too big then go about making them smaller.
The cuffs are comfortable on the wrists. The silk rope is very soft and doesn’t cut into the skin at all. No matter how tight the cuffs happen to get, there’s no risk of any rope burns or cuts from the rope. However, something of note is that these cuffs don’t allow any sort of stable adjustment. They go to the tightest setting around your wrist, and that’s it. There’s no way to make them slightly tight in order to have more slack between the cuffs. See, the larger your wrists, the less slack you get between the cuffs. The smaller the wrists, the more slack you get in the rope between the cuffs.
Something to consider about the cuffs is that they don’t actually restrain you. If your partner really wants to get out, these are pretty simple to get out of. However, they do a neat thing like a Chinese Finger Trap – if you attempt to pull your wrists apart to get out, they tighten. So the only way to get out would be to use the other hand to pull the rope loose on the hand. Since the cuffs restraint the two hands near each other, that won’t be easy to do for most people. However, if you enjoy doing some lighter bondage that has the chance of escape, this works perfect. The boyfriend and I usually prefer unescapable, but he still likes wearing these sometimes just because they’re soft and comfy.
The little booklet is neat. It’s a small, twelve page booklet that gives some basic information about rope bondage. This booklet is much more helpful when purchasing some of the regular silk rope instead of the cuffs, but it still gives some good information that’s good to know about general bondage. It starts off by two pages about how to choose the right rope. Obviously, it recommends a soft rope made of silk, but it does give good information about other types of rope. It covers using other types of items for bondage such as handcuffs and tape. It talks about why asymmetrical bondage is most intense when being tied up, then it goes into basic ways to tie someone. There isn’t any illustrations or anything, but just some places where people usually use rope. The last pages of the book focus on bondage safety. For example, the book gives quite a few “Don’ts”, talks about circulation, safe word, and why you should have a pair of safety shears on hand. Again, most of this is applicable to using their actual rope products, but in case you decide to go farther into bondage, that book will educate you and give you the basics.
The cuffs are pretty easy to wash. You just have to wipe it down with some warm water. I would imagine you might be able to get away with putting this in the washer (but not the dryer) in a lingerie bag, but we haven’t tried it. Since it doesn’t get too messy on the wrists, we haven’t had a reason to attempt to clean it.
We like these little cuffs. They’re tiny, cute, and easy to take along. Because of the small size, these would easily go along with you on a trip, they work well, and if they happen to get lost, you wouldn’t mind as much because of the low cost. The cuffs feel soft, and while they won’t keep you from escaping since it’s easy to pull your wrists out, they are a great alternative if bondage you can’t escape scares you. This sex toy store stocks novelties, so if these cuffs interest you, check out the Love Rope Wrist Cuffs.
