UPDATE DECEMBER 2022: The Tantus Bound dildo is no longer in production. This review remains as a reference for those who want more information about this toy. While you’re here, why don’t you check out my BDSM advice, femdom advice, and BDSM scene outlines? If you’re into texture-heavy toys, the Mr. Hankey’s Dragon may be a good alternative for you.
Made from 100%, ultra-premium silicone, the Tantus Bound dildo is extremely textured and ready to please anyone who loves a unique sensation from their dildo. Featuring swollen veins and intense rope patterns throughout the toy, this dildo offers an extreme texture experience.
It isn’t, however, a gigantic toy. It measures about 6.25″ in insertable length with a diameter of 1.5″ at the widest point. It includes a flared base for anal safety and strap-on use, but it doesn’t include a hole at the base like some of the Tantus toys. Pictured is the Tantus Bound dildo in Cream.
The silicone Bound dildo shares the same type of packaging as all Tantus sex toys. It comes in a cardboard outer sleeve that shows the dildo packaged in a plastic casing. The box includes information about the toy itself and clearly showcases almost all sides of the dildo. The packaging, however, ripes relatively easily from opening and closing, so it doesn’t work particularly well as a long-term storage solution.
While it should definitely be clear from the photos, the Tantus Bound is a silicone dildo designed for those who love texture. Aside from the tip, there isn’t an inch of area on this dildo that isn’t filled with texture. The head is entirely smooth, but the rest of the toy is filled with intense veined textures and rope textures – and all of the textures feel relatively life-like to what they’d feel like in real life. The rope twists all the way up the dildo, but the majority of the rope-like texture is concentrated near the base and head. The veins are found throughout the shaft.
If you’re used to the squishier and softer side of Tantus, you’re going to go “woah” when you touch this one. Like the rope would imply, this is a scratchier, rougher textured silicone than I think I’ve ever seen from Tantus. The dildo isn’t entirely rigid, so it will bend with your body, but the silicone isn’t plushy at all. Between the veins and the rope textures, it feels very, very textured and has virtually no squish to the actual silicone at all. It flexes, but it isn’t plushy.
Because of this textured design, you need to be VERY, very thorough with lubricant. The lubricant seems to absorb and get stuck in some of the etchings of the dildo pretty quickly and pretty easily. This means that you’ll need to reapply lubricant – and a thicker, less-thin lubricant seems to do best for long-lasting slickness for this one. If you’re playing with a partner, make sure you speak up if you feel like the toy might need more lube – the toy gets irritating very quickly if it isn’t slickened up enough.
As long as you keep the dildo properly lubricated, though, the Bound provides an intense texture experience unlike any other dildo. While I think a bit of added thickness would have allowed the texture to feel even more noticeable, the current width of the dildo functions just fine. With the bumps and diameter changes throughout the entire toy, it’s not quite a smooth, sliding experience like with many dildos. Instead, you can feel some of the smaller changes. The toy gets slightly larger and smaller and changes in texture and just generally offers a whole lot more sensation in a toy. The only part of this dildo that doesn’t have any texture is the head!
This skin-toned silicone strap-on dildo doesn’t include a hole in the base for any added bullet vibrators. It does, however, have a flared base that makes it safe for anal play and makes it possible to use in a strap-on harness. However, keep in mind that this dildo isn’t the longest toy out there. You’ll lose some of the length when pegging to the harness and your body; at slightly-over-6″ insertable, your dildo will not be too long after it’s strapped onto a body. It will still be a functional strap-on toy, but if you’re looking for a kinky, imposing look with the dildo’s rope texture, it may not come out exactly how you were hoping.
Like all Tantus dildos, the Bound dildo is made from 100% sterilizable, premium silicone. Water-based lubricant – both for thickness and material safety – is recommended. I recommend a lube that’s nice and thick to compliment the texture of this sex toy. While the dildo can be washed with anti-bacterial soap and water, you have to remember that the texture is extremely intricate and detailed. For that reason, Tantus recommends cleaning this dildo by boiling or dishwasher cleaning. I would definitely agree. Ensuring you get all of the crevices by hand would be particularly difficult. For storage, as the material isn’t particularly sticky or plushy, it can be stored without too much concern. I recommend keeping it in a drawstring bag or pouch if you want to keep the toy spotless for the next use.
Overall, if you’re a texture-lover, the Tantus Bound dildo is definitely going to appeal to you. There’s nothing else like this on the market. The texture is extremely detailed, extremely noticeable during use, and provides an entirely different sensation from a standard dildo. However, with the roughness of the silicone partnered with the very intense texturing, you’ll definitely want to ensure you have a nice, thick lubricant that can handle the job. If texture is your thing, you’re going to fall in love with the Bound silicone dildo. Thanks to Tantus for providing this very textured dildo for my Tantus Bound dildo review.
