The First Mate Silicone Dildo is a realistic dildo made of body-safe silicone. It’s designed by a body-safe sex toy company, and it comes in multiple colors. This dildo is sold by She Vibe Pleasure Boutique. The silicone does not feel like “real skin”, but it is not a rigid for easy thrusting. This silicone dildo is seven inches long with a diameter of an inch and a half. It’s realistic, and it features a harness-compatible base for using this sex toy with a strap-on harness.
The packaging for the First Mate is cute. It comes in a blister pack that has a blue, cardboard piece as a background. This packaging includes a little tray for the dildo to sit in. It’s a bit of a pain to get the dildo back into the packaging, so I wouldn’t recommend it for long-term storage, but it gives you all of the cleaning information that you need to know.
The First Mate Silicone Dildo looks like a really penis. I’m actually surprised. The veins are a little more obvious than the ones on most penises that I’ve seen, but aside from that, the diameter is actually pretty realistic, and aside from adding a few inches to the length, the length is realistic too. The detailing is realistic, and the head is pronounced but it’s not too much so. The dildo is flexible, but it’s not nearly as flexible as some of the other dildos out there. You can bend it about 30 degrees, but it won’t bend much farther than that.
I like the fact that this dildo is longer than most of your realistic dildos. Why? Because when you use a dildo in a harness, you lose about an “inch” of the dildo due to the fact that it’s just going to be sitting in the harness between your legs and such. You lose more if either partner happens to be overweight since then you stil have a longer distance that the dildo needs to travel. Other dildos that actually are “average sized” can become slightly problematic since, when added to a harness, they can actually end up being too short. The First Mate Silicone Dildo doesn’t have that problem. Instead, the dildo is surprisingly long enough to work really well in a harness, and it helps you reach and pleasure your partner deeper than most people usually can with a harness.
However, I wasn’t too fond of the base on this dildo. It did a good job of holding the dildo’s weight so the dildo would stay upright, but it also slowly sloped towards a smaller thickness towards the outer edges of the base, and at times, I almost felt like the thinness of the outer ends would press uncomfortably into my skin. It wasn’t a huge bother, but it was enough to make me wish the edges weren’t so thin. However, it does do a great job of holding up your First Mate, so they’ll be no floppy penis syndrome. Along with that, the base does not have any bullet hole in the bottom of it, so there’s no way to keep vibrations going on the dildo unless you hold a vibrator up against it. However, the base of the dildo, surprisingly, sticks pretty easily to any sort of flat surface, and while it won’t hold up against thrusting, it does keep from slipping around really nicely on flat surfaces.
The First Mate Silicone Dildo actually works pretty well for what it’s supposed to do. I think it excels in being used in a harness, but as long as you cover this with water-based lubricant, it actually feels close to the sensation of a real penis. If you cover this with a condom, it’s really, really difficult to tell the difference. If you are going for realistic, this one definitely does a great job with it – especially when you consider that it works so well with harnesses, so it brings in a whole new idea of play if you want to use a strap-on harness dildo. It does, however, hit the g-spot unless you do some serious positioning with it. You’d have to use it entering doggy style, and even then, it’s a personal body thing instead of a sure-thing. Basically, this dildo can be treated like a regular “penis” that just happens to have a bit of extra length, so whatever you’d do during penetration to make it pleasurable would need to be done with this dildo.
The one awesomely neat thing about this dildo is the length. If you dislike things hitting your cervix, you can’t go full-insertion with this dildo; it’s just too long. Just don’t go all the way, and you’ll be fine. However, for those few women who enjoy the sensation of something very lightly rubbing the cervix, this works perfectly because it’s long enough to do it while most other toys aren’t so long and thin (at least, not most realistic dildos). I enjoy it and use it a lot for the harness use and cervix use.
Cleaning a silicone toy is really easy. You just use warm water and anti-bacterial soap, and the silicone dildo will be clean. If you like, you can also boil it or wash it in the top shelf of the dishwasher to sterilize it for multiple-person use. Since this is made of silicone, don’t use any silicone-based lubricant with it. Along with that, it can be stored in the original packaging, but the original packaging is pretty bulky for storage. I recommend storing it somewhere else, but it does pick up a lot of lint and small fluffies.
I, surprisingly, really like this dildo. The First Mate Silicone Dildo provides something that a lot of body-safe, realistic dildos don’t. It’s realistic, pretty long, and still manages to stay pretty slim in diameter. This makes it a good choice for harness use, and it’s a good choice for those that enjoy something brushing up deeply as well. It doesn’t feel like “real” skin, but it’s definitely a really, really affordable silicone sex toy. At this price, there’s no reason that people should be using toys with phthalates. Thanks to SheVibe sex toys for sending me this dildo for my First Mate Silicone Dildo review.
