Bliss Remote-Controlled Egg Review

Bliss Remote-Controlled Egg
Packaging of the box

UPDATE MAY 2020: This remote-controlled vaginal egg is no longer in production. This review remains as a reference.

The Couture Collection Bliss is a California Exotics bullet. It’s a wireless bullet that’s also rechargeable, and it’s the first rechargeable wireless set that I’ve ever tried, so I was excited to see how it would work. The toy comes with a charging base, an egg bullet, and the remote control. It comes in either pink or blue, and I have the blue. The blue looks like a blue/purple, but the picture is pretty accurate on the color scheme. The egg and remote are made from coated plastic, and the bullet is about three inches long and about an inch and a half in diameter.

The packaging for the Bliss Egg is typical packaging of the Couture Collection from California Exotics. It’s actually really nice packaging from them. The box itself is white and is has little splashes of “water” all over the packaging. It’s all made from cardboard, so it’s not amazingly high-quality like I’d like, but there is a little cardboard tray where the bullet and the remote slide in. It’s neat because the tray itself can be stored along with the rest of the box being thrown away. The boyfriend describes the packaging as “relaxing”. The packaging also includes information about the wireless, a battery for the remote, and instructions for the toy.

The pieces of the set are made from the coated plastic. This plastic is pretty slick to the touch and extremely rigid. There is no flexibility in either of the pieces. The egg, while it probably will require lubricant if using it for foreplay, it won’t require lubricant if inserting it after foreplay. It’s just really slick by itself. Any extra lubrication that’s added will only require a bit because a little will go a long way with this material. The Egg does include a couple seams that can barely be felt with my finger; they were most certainly not felt during use. The Egg also includes a nylon string off the end of it that is supposed to function as a retrieval cord. The string is nice and firmly attached, but I still wouldn’t go around using this anally unless you throw this in a condom for easy retrieval. (As a sidenote, because of how nice and white the string is, I’d be careful about using this Egg during/near menstruation.)

This toy is rechargeable. At least, half of it is. I’m still trying to figure out why they made one half of it rechargeable while the other half isn’t. Granted, the bullet portion almost always runs out of batteries/dies much faster than the remote does, but why not go that extra mile and make the remote rechargeable as well? Anyway, the bullet is rechargeable by placing it in the heart-shaped dock that comes with the toy. The dock can be unplugged from the black cord to use it for storing the bullet. This will keep the bullet from rolling around since it will be stored in an upright position. I was a little confused since I thought CalExotics toys were US-made, but the plug-in for this is obviously not a US-plug-in. At all. I don’t know where it goes, but CalExotics had to include an adapter to make it US-compatible. The adapter makes the plug-in a little too heavy to be charged on a wall socket, but it works just fine with a powerstrip on the ground.

The remote isn’t rechargeable. It does require a battery to work. The battery compartment is on the backside of the remote, so the remote is not waterproof. The little battery says “12V-1” as the type of battery it is. Yeah, I have no idea what the is. It’s a small little half-size battery like the N batteries are though, but I’d imagine it’d be a pain to try and find this battery in stores. It’d probably be available back at the electronics department though. It just takes the one battery to work.

We had quite a bit of luck with the wireless. It’s been one of the best toys we’ve had for wireless so far; I’m actually pretty impressed with it. With the boyfriend carrying the Egg around, it will go 13 feet away from the remote in any direction. That also includes through walls. It doesn’t seem to matter what structural piece is in the way; as long as it’s thirteen feet or less, it seems to work just fine. However, when inserted vaginally, it does seem to lose quite a bit of its range. It only worked about three/four feet from the remote. (Which is easily enough for most people.) When “hidden” into layers of blankets, it would work about seven or eight feet away. (We actually got out a measuring tape. It was fun.)

Sometimes I’d end up getting frustrated by the remote. While the LED light will flash green anytime a command is pressed on the remote, that doesn’t necessarily mean that the command was received by the bullet. This led to a lot of “Is it on?” discussions that I’d prefer not to have. When it was less than six feet away, it almost always would do the command on the first try. Like, 95%. When it was more than six feet away, it became more around 80% for the success rate. While this is still much higher than most wireless sets, it’s still not high enough to not be frustrating. It’s still one of the better success rates out there though. As a sidenote, it seems to “receive” the command more often when the command is on/off than it is to change the vibration speed/pattern.

The remote

Turning each piece on and off is easy. The bullet just requires you to hold down the button on the top of the Egg for a couple seconds. It’s a bit awkward, and you’d assume it’d be a quick press, but no, it does need to be held down. This is probably because, while inserted, they don’t want you turning off the bullet. For the remote, you just have to insert the battery and then it’s on. I left the battery in the remote for three straight days, and it still worked, so the remote works well, but if you want your remote to stay alive, take the batteries out after you are done with each use. The bullet, after a couple uses, still has juice, so both items hold their charge really nicely.

The remote controls the Egg best when it’s pointed straight at the Egg. The vibration speeds are pretty normal. There’s a low, medium, and high on steady vibrations. There’s a rollercoaster vibration pattern, a pulsation pattern, a fast pulsation pattern, and a short then long pulsation pattern. Surprisingly, the vibrations are actually quiet. When used clitorally, you couldn’t hear it outside a closed door. When inserted, it’s hard to hear in the same room. It can be heard as a slight buzzing, but aside from that, it can’t be heard.

This makes this bullet absolutely perfect for using in public. The Egg, while it could be heard in quiet restaurants, could not be heard in a more chatty location. It probably couldn’t be heard in a regular grocery store either. It definitely couldn’t be heard in a chatty restaurant or a club or movie theater. This makes it one of the best bullets I’ve found for using in public. It’s especially good when you consider that all of the sounds will end up being quieter since the Egg is inserted. The Egg is extremely easy to remove since the string hangs out really nicely.

The Egg is meant for insertion for use because of the nice, round shape. The insertion cord confirms my thought. During insertion, I found the vibration levels to definitely be pretty strong. I liked using it on the medium steady setting. The inserted vibrations weren’t enough for an orgasm on their own, but they definitely worked to tease. I much preferred using the Egg clitorally. You can slip this into your underwear for that use, but be warned it will be louder and will fit a bit awkwardly into panties. Clitorally, the vibrations are a bit buzzy, but the strongest setting is easily enough for orgasm. I’m actually impressed with the strength of the toy.

Cleaning with this set is ridiculously easy. The Egg is waterproof, so you just have to use warm water and antibacterial soap to clean it up. The remote isn’t waterproof, so if you get something on it, wipe it down with a damp washcloth. This set is compatible with all different types of lubricant. For storage, you can put it in the original box, or it will also happily store in any sort of storage bag you have. You can also choose to unplug the base of the Egg and just store the Egg in that. It looks really cute that way too.

I’m really fond of this set. The bullet ends up being really powerful for a rechargeable toy, it recharges so you don’t go through batteries like none other, the remote works relatively well even though it’s a little glitchy, and the Egg is easy to insert and quiet. It’s pretty much everything a remote-controlled bullet should be.
