Ophoria Beyond One Review

Ophoria Beyond One
The packaging

The Ophoria Beyond One is an insertable vibrator made from silicone and sold from MyPleasure Sex Toys. The Ophoria Beyond One is about seven inches long, and at the widest point, it has a diameter of about an inch and a half. Most of the toy, however, just has a one inch diameter. The toy is made from silicone which is body-safe and probably one of the safest materials for sex toys.

The Ophoria Beyond One is packaged pretty basically. It comes in a small box. When you open the box, you pull out the inner styrofoam. The styrofoam is covered by a piece of cardboard that keeps the toy in place. The thing I don’t understand is that the styrofoam actually has no bottom, so that piece of cardboard is the only think keeping the vibrator from falling out. I think it was a bit of odd packaging. The packaging is classy and would look nice for giftgiving. The packaging also includes an instruction guide as well as warranty information.

Once you receive your toy, I recommend you trash the packaging. I’m not sure why, but the packaging gives your toy this god-awful smell. It smells like orange Pine-Sol or something. It smells horrid and is not-at-all how silicone is supposed to smell. I thought it might be the toy, but after cleaning the toy it was fine. I smelled the packaging, and it’s certainly coming from there. The smell is seriously the biggest turn-off ever. I’m not sure what they’ve done to their packaging, but it doesn’t make me even want to look at the dildo when it smells like that.

The inner packaging. This packaging really smells.

The silicone Ophoria uses is pretty sturdy. The silicone itself doesn’t have much squish to it – if you press down with both fingers, it won’t squish down or anything under the pressure. In that manner, it’s firm. In another manner, it’s a lot more flexible. While the silicone along the base is pretty firm because of the motor, the head of the toy is a lot more flexible. If pressure is applied to the top of the head, it will begin to curl flat. This isn’t in an annoyingly easy way, but it doesn’t take too much pressure to make it begin to uncurl. If you require very direct and hard pressure to your g-spot, this may end up making the Beyond One very frustrating to you.

The Beyond One has a pretty interesting design; it’s one of the reasons I wanted it so much. I own the glass toy the Bent Graduate, and the extreme g-spot curve actually works for me when other sex toys don’t, so I was hoping that the same could be said for the Beyond One. Unfortunately, it’s just not the sex toy for me, and I know that now. It’s just too big. Yes, I said too big. No matter how much lubricant I slathered onto the Beyond One, it was always uncomfortable to insert. No matter what I tried. For that reason, I never could actually enjoy g-spot pleasure. (I will let you know that it did hit my g-spot really nicely though, so I wish I could have enjoyed it more.) I would cover it in lubricant, but the silicone of the Beyond One just made it too difficult to comfortably insert. (This is coming from the person who hates all insertion though, so if you enjoy using dildos, you’ll be fine.) No matter your love for dildos though, you are going to need some lubricant to insert this toy.

So it did massage my g-spot, but I just couldn’t enjoy it since actually having the toy in was painful to move it. Again, it’s probably my hate for insertion, but this toy’s silicone does make it a bit difficult to use without globs of lubricant. For clitoral use, rounded design works great to provide broad-surface stimulation. However, I felt the vibrations weren’t as strong as I’d like them for clitoral use.

The Beyond One is powered by batteries – two AAA batteries to be exact. The battery compartment on the bottom of the Beyond One just twists right off to make it easy to insert the batteries into the compartment. The batteries seem to last just fine. I put in a set and left it for a couple days, and it died though, so I recommend you take the batteries out after use if you don’t want dead batteries.

The button to control the vibration levels is at the bottom of the base. The button just needs to be pushed down to cycle through the 3 speeds then the 6 different patterns. To turn off the toy, you just hold down the speed button for a couple seconds. The speeds and vibration patterns are moderate in strength. They aren’t amazingly strong, but most women would have no problem with the strength. The patterns on the Ophoria Beyond One are nice because they are slightly random. They aren’t the predictable patterns that you would expect from a vibrator. For noise, the Beyond One is relatively quiet. It could be heard in the same room, but it wouldn’t be heard from a separate room with the door shut.

The Ophoria Beyond One is easy to take care of. I recommend you wash it down with warm water and antibacterial soap for cleaning. It can be sterilized with bleach if you want to use it between multiple partners, but you could also just cover it with a condom. For storage, I recommend you find a place aside from the box since the box imbues the toy with a horrible scent every time it’s stored there. For lubricant, you must use water-based lube since silicone-based will harm the toy.

While I really was expecting a lot from the Ophoria Beyond One, I feel like this just isn’t the sex toy for me. It’s a quality toy, but the size mixed with the type of silicone just make it too hard for me to comfortably use. The vibration levels are nice, though, and I can see another person loving this toy to death. If you’re interested, MyPleasure sells vibrators and the Ophoria Beyond One.
