“Caught Looking” Erotica Book Review

Caught Looking: Erotic Tales of Voyeurs and Exhibitionists” is a Cleis Press erotic anthology edited by Rachel Kramer Bussel. As you can guess, the theme of this collection is centered around the idea of public sex. The book is softcover, has black and white pages, and is 224 pages. Within those pages are 20 different stories which means each story averages out at ten pages which is a good length. The front of the cover shows a blurry man laying on a bed with a in-focus woman in lingerie. The backside shows just text.  It is possible to read this book in public areas as long as you make sure to keep the cover hidden.

Sometimes I dislike reviewing erotica. I absolutely love reading it, but it’s such a personal preference. My sexual likes are different than another person’s sexual likes, so unless there’s something inherently wrong with the writing, it’s really hard for me to give a bad review to stories I just didn’t find arousing. Other people may downright love it, and I’d hate to discourage someone from checking out a great collection they may love. I think that might have been one of the reasons I rated this anthology so highly – it’s such a hot book because I absolutely love the idea of public sex. It’s just downright hot.

Most of the stories are heterosexual in nature though there are a couple lesbian and gay stories as well. The stories are told in a variety of different views – sometimes the female, sometimes the male, sometimes first, second, or third person. In the story, it sometimes is a person watching and other times, it is sometimes a person performing. In some of the stories, what happens is sometimes accidental while in others, performing in front of others is completely planned.

That’s one of the things that I really liked about this book. While I really love public sex, I could see how it could get old or boring after awhile. This book really prevented that. All of the different plots and all of the different sex scenarios made it an amazing read that kept me spellbound through the two hours that it took me to read this book cover-to-cover. There was really only one story that was unaroused by – the rest were really hot and arousing.

One of my favorite stories was “Command Performance” by Teresa Noelle Roberts. In it, a young woman, owned by a male Master, is commanded to go into a exhibition booth and perform for all of the guys who want to watch her be a slut – including her own Master. She’s turned on by it, and he commands her to get herself off while all of the men in the audience watch, touching themselves.

One of the most surprising stories was “Sharing the Perfect Cock” by Rachel Kramer Bussel. It was surprising in a sexy way. In this story, we read about how the main female character has a hot fantasy about sharing her boyfriend with another woman while she sits and watches. Of course, she finds this woman, and it’s a really hot scenario that we get to read about – definitely one of the hotter stories in the book.

In another hot story, “Room with a View” by Saskia Walker, two young girls are out on a hunting trip when they find out that their Bed and Breakfast room is missing floorboards so they can spy on the couple having sex downstairs. Both of the women end up touching themselves while they watch the sexy couple – and agree to stay a couple more days.

A sexy lesbian story “A Flash of Gold” by Radclyffe details a lesbian couple who go out to college campus for a group meeting. They end up staying in the dorms, which of course, means communal showers. The couple really enjoys having sex in the public showers, but of course, everything gets hotter when another group-goer ends up discovering them in the shower.

I was disappointed by “The Poet, Dying” by Simon Sheppard. In this story, a man described as “on his deathbed” hires two young escorts to perform for him. I just honestly can’t say I was too aroused by the thought of that elderly man stroking his “feeble” erection as it was described.

I’d highly recommend “Caught Looking” to anyone who has any sort of interest in public sex. It’s well-written, has a lot of surprising and sexy plots, and is extremely easy to get caught up in. This is easily my second favorite erotica book that I own (the first being “Do Not Disturb”). Rachel Kramer Bussel did a great job compiling these stories – and this is a collection I’d want to read again. To check out this sexy compilation, you can purchase Caught Looking: Erotic Tales of Voyeurs and Exhibitionists at Cleis Press.
