UPDATE JULY 2022: The Sex in the Shower Sex Mirrors appears to be discontinued. This sex help book review remains as a reference for anyone who’s interested. While you’re here, why not check out my BDSM advice, femdom advice, BDSM Scenes Step by Step, and Should I Buy a Fleshlight?

The Sex in the Shower Sex Mirrors are mirrors that are intended to be placed around your bathroom to let you watch yourself in the shower. The mirrors are made by Sportsheets. The mirrors come in a 4-pack for each set you buy, and they are six inches by six inches. Each of the mirrors can be placed side-by-side to make a really big mirror, or you can just place each one in different places around the shower for different views.

The packaging for this looks like the packaging for the rest of the Sex in the Shower series. It’s just a tiny box, and if you don’t want to use all of the mirrors at once, you can easily toss the rest back into the box for storage.

Instructions for the mirror

So, unlike most regular mirrors, well, these aren’t mirrors. Which works perfectly for the product. While mirrors are heavy and I was wondering how they were going to stay up on the wall, these aren’t actual mirrors. Instead, it’s a reflective surface – it looks like some type of plastic. Remember those “mirrors” you had as a child that were break-proof since your parents didn’t want you to hurt yourself? Yeah, that’s what these mirrors are. They’re much lighter in weight which makes them much more likely to stay up against the wall.

The mirrors themselves, since they aren’t real mirrors, aren’t as clear as a regular mirror would be. The image is a bit more blurry than a regular mirror, and there are some obvious scratches in the surfaces of some of my mirrors. However, it’s still extremely clear what it is you’re looking at. Basically, while you couldn’t do your make-up with precision with this mirror, you could easily check your appearance, shave, or of course, look at the sex you are having in the shower.

The only danger there is about these mirrors is if they happen to slip off the wall and fall onto your foot. I’ve dropped the mirrors multiple times on hard surfaces (like my tiled floor) just to check for safety, and they never crack. The only way this would hurt you is if it fell with a corner pointing towards your foot. Even then, it’d probably just hurt and not really cause any bleeding or anything. This means you don’t have to worry since your mirror won’t crack into pieces.

So how are these hung? Well, it has to be a clean, dry surface that’s been wiped down previously for oily residue (like shampoo.) From there, there is adhesive on the back of each one of the little mirrors. You just have to peel off the adhesive then stick the mirror to the surface. We’ve had these up for two weeks, and currently, they’re still as stuck as they were in the beginning. With humidity and wetness from the shower, I’m going to imagine that they will fall at some point, but they haven’t yet. We also have a flat surface in our shower where it’s hanging, so that probably helps it too. We don’t adjust the mirrors at all either.

That’s another thing – once you place the mirror, there is no do-over with your adhesive. Make sure you do it right the first time. If you want to re-place the mirror, it’s possible, but you’d have to go to the store and purchase some of your own adhesive to place on the back of your mirror. The instructions do state that you can make a moveable mirror by using suction cups though, but we didn’t end up trying that, but it’d be worth a shot.

For cleaning, the instructions mentions not to use abrasives (like shower cleaner) or sponges for cleaning the mirrors. It just wants you to use soap and water. I really can’t see any particular reason to clean the mirrors, but you just have to be careful with shower cleaners around the mirrors since it could loosen the adhesive.

Overall? While I had been expecting actual mirrors, I think it’s better this way. The mirrors don’t fog up, can’t shatter at my feet, and are light enough to hang on the shower wall which makes them perfect for shower use. Not only can you use this for shower sex, you can use these to see hard-to-reach shaving areas, to hang up where you can see your face to make sure you didn’t miss any part of your face with soap and anything else you want your sight for.
