UPDATE JANUARY 2022: The LELO Liv is no longer in production. Instead, LELO has updated the vibe to its second iteration – the LELO Liv 2. The sex toy review remains as a reference for anyone who’s interested in the original LELO Liv. While you’re here, why not check out some BDSM advice and femdom advice?

The Lelo Liv is one of the luxury vibrators from LELO. It’s about seven inches long, has a diameter of a little over an inch, and is made from premium silicone. In fact, LELO silicone is my absolute favorite – it’s soft, silky and luxurious. The Liv comes in a Cerise (pink), lime green, or navy blue. I own the Cerise, and it’s just honestly a downright gorgeous pink – I love looking at it. The Liv is long enough to be an insertable vibrator, but it also is small enough to still be an effective clitoral vibrator as well. If you are looking for the anal version of the Liv, it’s called the LELO Billy and includes a small flange to make it anal safe.

Like all LELO toys, the Liv comes with gorgeous packaging that has spoiled me with what I now expect from my expensive toys. The outside LELO packaging is tasteful and while it shows the product and the features, looks great. Inside of the outside packaging is a small, black discreet box that houses the Liv inside of a little tray with a plastic top that keeps the Liv from moving. Underneath the Liv’s tray is the warranty information, the charger, the instruction manuals, and a small storage bag.

The Liv, like all of LELO’s toys, is a rechargeable vibrator. This means that you don’t have to worry about purchasing batteries or keeping track of them. It comes with a small charger that plugs into the small port at the base of the Liv – the port does come covered with a small silicone piece that keeps water out and helps make the vibrator easier to clean. It takes about two hours to charge, and those two hours will make the vibrator run for about 90 minutes which is a long amount. It does come fully charged, but it is locked for travel which means you just have to hold down the center of the pad to turn it on. (It can be locked for travel in the same manner.)

You have no idea how much I just love looking at the Liv. It’s just such an amazing pink. I’ve considered rebuying some of my other LELO toys just to buy them in this pink. Seriously. It’s that gorgeous. I’ve considered leaving this one out just because it’s so damn pretty. The base (which is plastic) is white too which makes a nice contrast to the pink. It really does look like a gorgeous toy.

The vibrations are pretty moderate. They aren’t strong, especially compared to the new generation of LELO toys like the Lelo Mona, Lelo Ina, and Lelo Siri, but they aren’t soft either. When I reached the strongest setting, I found myself wanting to go a bit higher, but the strongest setting was easily still enough. So it’d be a treat if it went stronger, but it doesn’t, and I’m not complaining much. The vibrations are quiet too – there’s no way this could be heard through a closed door, and if you and other people are watching television, you could easily use the lower settings without being heard. I enjoy the fact that the vibrations aren’t buzzy and high, but instead are much deeper and stronger than some other vibrators. (For example, if put down pressure on this, it gets stronger, not weaker which is what I like.)

I’ve mostly used the Liv for clitoral use, but it’s possible to use this for insertion as well. It’s slim enough that it’s definitely comfortable, and if you use some water-based lubricant, it will be more comfortable. For most women, this should definitely hit their g-spot. Mine isn’t quite so shallow, so it’s a no-go with me, but I still enjoyed using it for penetration as well as externally. This can also be used on other erogenous zones – the only no-go is anally because it is lacking in a flared base and can end up getting a bit slippery if you get the plastic portion lubricated.

For cleaning, the Liv should just be washed down with antibacterial soap and some warm water. There aren’t any holes on the surface, so you don’t have to be too careful when washing. Because the body of the Liv is silicone, you should be using water-based lubricant with it. Along with that, the silicone doesn’t actually pick up any lint like other silicone does, so you can just go ahead and store it wherever it most comfortable. It comes with a white satin pouch, or like I do, you can just store it in the discreet black box.

The LELO Liv is a gorgeous vibrator – I wouldn’t call it my favorite to use, but it is certainly my favorite to look at. The minimal design along with the two colors just makes it a very, very beautiful piece of sexual art. Just looking at it makes me smile because it just looks so pretty compared to some of the other toys out there. It boasts body-safe material, being rechargeable, having quiet vibrations, having pretty decent vibrations, good packaging, and a warranty that means you don’t have to worry too much about your purchase.
