Lover's Bondage Kit

The front of the box

The Lover’s Bondage Kit is a small kit made by Pipedream Toys and sold by Adam and Eve. The kit comes with all of the basic items that you’d need to get a head-start on having some kinky sex – it has wrist and ankle cuffs, a heart-shaped position pillow, a paddle, warming massage lotion, one of Pipedream’s free masks, and silk rose petals. The entire kit is colored in a black/red color scheme which just looks really cute and Valentine Day-like. I wouldn’t say that this is the most high-quality product out there, but it’s no horrible either – especially when you consider that a regular pair of cuffs usually runs more than this entire kit costs, so you definitely get a chance to try out all sorts of fun bondage a good price.

The entire set comes packaged in individual baggies. Each piece has it’s own baggie. The entire thing comes in this large white-background box that shows a girl in a red/black corset using the different pieces of the corset. There actually isn’t any nudity on the set, and it just looks fun and playful. The box is a bit large at taller than a regular piece of paper and about as wide. The box could easily be used for storage, but it’s not exactly discreet nor is it small. It still could be used though. The best way for me to review this will be to review each individual piece.

The first piece of the set I will be reviewing is the two sets of cuffs. This set comes with both a set of wrist cuffs and a set of ankle cuffs. Both sets should fit a huge variety of people since they attach with velcro. While the material of the cuff itself isn’t exactly long, the velcro that attaches to it is, so even if you feel like the cuff isn’t going to fit around your wrist, the velcro will span the distance and make the cuff fit around your limbs. Each individual cuff is made from soft velvet with satin while the outside velcro attaches the ends of the cuff together. Instead of a D-ring or O-ring, each cuff happens to have a heart-shaped ring hanging off of it. One one of the heart shaped rings of each set, there’s also a clip hanging off. This means that the clip is actually unremovable from the cuff, but it does allow you to unclip and reclip the one cuff to the other cuff.

The cuffs are probably some of the softest cuffs we’ve ever felt. I love them for that. They feel soft, they feel playful, and they feel amazing on the skin. However, the reason they are the softest is because velvet doesn’t exactly make a strong nor thick material. The cuffs do feel a little light-weight and a little flimsy which makes me sad. We haven’t broken the cuffs after a couple uses, but I can easily see someone with some strength ripping or breaking some part of the cuff. However, if you don’t really want to “restrain” someone to the point of them not being able to break out, this works fine. It’s only if your captive struggles that you will have a problem. The cute little metal pieces are definitely pretty thin metal, so it’s possible those will snap as well, but we haven’t had problems. I love the fact that the metal is in a heart-shape though. The ankle cuffs and wrist cuffs are identical except for the ankle cuffs are much larger than the wrist cuffs. The boyfriend has tiny limbs and both sets of cuffs fit him fine.

The neat pice is the Furry Heart Paddle. It’s a bit flimsy as well. The entire paddle is made just from two pieces of faux leather sewn together. However, in the middle of the paddle, they cut out a hole in the faux leather on one side and put in some red faux fur which feels soft. The paddle also has a hole at the end where some faux leather has been looped to allow you to hang this from wherever you’d like. Unlike other paddles that have multiple layers of material to make it more firm, this paddle just seems to have the two layers. That means that this paddle is amazingly flexible – and that’s either a good or bad thing. I didn’t have much of a problem with it, but others may want a more high-quality paddle. However, the paddle will easily bend at a ninety degree angle just from regular use or if you force it. That means it does squiggle around a bit during use.

However, it’s definitely not a bad toy for use either. The paddle has the two separate sides which both provide an interesting sensation that’s different from each other. Each side is relatively painless – even when swung with full force. It will provide a slight sting, but it’s nothing compared to some of the other paddles on the market. The faux fur side is even more friendly and even rough swats with that feel more pleasurable than painful. The paddle was obviously intended towards beginners, and it works well that way. You can swat lightly to feel more of the faux fur or you can swat heavily for a bit of a sting. Either way, this won’t satisfy those who know they’re going to need a lot of pain from their paddle – it’s more friendly and much more of a warm-up toy.

Next up: The Heart Positioning Pillow. I’m split on this. Yes, you do have to blow it up much like you’d have to blow-up a beach ball, and it does take a bit more time. It took us about fifteen minutes of blowing it up, so if you want to use it, make sure to blow it up beforehand. However, after you have blown it up, it’s not like a regular beachball. In fact, it’s much softer – it appears they coated the outside of this pillow with some sort of soft felt. So it doesn’t felt plastic-y nor will you stick to the pillow at all. It doesn’t feel amazingly plush, but it’s definitely soft – it feels much much sexier than a beach ball or something like that. However, I can’t say that we really tried it with my weight. We tried it with the boyfriends 150 pounds, and the pillow held up, but it definitely squished and made it almost pointless to use if you wanted it to hold up your hips. We didn’t even bother trying it on my plus-size weight.

What the pillow did work well for us for was some other less weighty positions. For example, it seemed to work okay when resting under the head and acting as a pillow. It also seemed to work okay for a woman on top to rest underneath the guy’s knee to provide a bit of soft support. I wouldn’t call it amazing, but I wouldn’t call it horrible either. Again, remembering the price always helps keep thing in perspective – you’d normally pay twice this price for just the pillow alone, so while it isn’t perfect, it’ll definitely help the two of you feel a bit more kinky about it. It also isn’t an amazingly large pillow, so it basically wouldn’t have been large enough to comfortably support my weight. For someone smaller like the boyfriend, though, he could easily sit on it with pillow still leftover.

The Liquid Love Warming Massage Lotion is an item I’ve used before. It works great, isn’t too sticky (it is slightly sticky) and ends up doing a pretty decent job on the warming without being burning. The warming does feel a bit weak, but I’d prefer it be a bit weak than it burn me. The Warming Lubricant in this set is a 1 fl ounce bottle of their Cherry flavor. It comes in a screw-off top, and this should easily last you about ten different uses as long as you are a bit conservative with how much you use – if you use a bit more, you’ll get about five uses out of it.

The silk rose petals are probably the cheapest item out of this set. While it does come with quite a few of them, in both red and white for a color, these most certainly aren’t any type of silk that I’ve ever felt – it feels more like some very thin nylon. This set comes with about sixty or more of them – I didn’t actually count. The rose petals have no scent to them, and they aren’t scratchy either so you won’t mind them laying around while the two of you play around. They don’t look amazingly realistic, but it will definitely work to make your playtime seem a bit more “special” for the two of you, so I can’t complain too much about them.

Showing the paddle and the blindfold

The last piece of the set: The red blindfold. If you’ve ever bought any other Pipedream Products, this is the same blindfold you receive with those products – just in red. It has an elastic band that runs around the blindfold that works pretty efficiently. The blindfold itself doesn’t exactly feel luxurious – it feels a bit like rubber, but it doesn’t have a scent and does a decent job. It’s a little odd to wear since, when you open your eyes, you don’t see the traditional black – it’s a bright red. However, if you pull it down over your eyes properly, the blindfold lets in only the tiniest bit of sight by your nose – it doesn’t really “block” out the light since it’s in red, but it does obstruct the vision. It’s not a bad blindfold at all.

Care really depends on the individual piece. The pillow should only be wiped down with a damp washcloth as well as the paddle. The cuffs could probably take something a bit stronger but make sure it sits out to properly dry. The petals nor the blindfold shouldn’t really need cleaning. I’d try to avoid getting lubricant or bodily fluids on the pillow, but it might happen, so try to get it cleaned up afterwards. For storage, you could use the original box, but it is a bit large, so you may want to find a new place to store these – the pillow can be deflated for easy storage.

I always say that we shouldn’t call “bad products” as products that are good for beginners – it isn’t fair to them nor would you want their first experience to be like that. However, when it comes to this set, I think that’s the perfect word for it – good for beginners who are on a budget. Because while none of the pieces are amazingly high-quality, each piece does its job and will help the couple decide if more-expensive options are for them. This adult toy store sells the Lover’s Bondage Kit as well as kinky bondage and other adult sex toys.
