The Silk Scarf Restraints are a Fetish Fantasy Series product made by Pipedream. The set includes two soft silk scarves and a satin blindfold. The entire kit was made to be very soft and sensuous on the skin. Each scarf is made from black silk and ends up being a couple inches longer than three feet. It also has a width of three inches. Each scarf consists of just one layer of silk, so one side of the silk will be more soft/shiny than the other. Around the piece of silk itself, there was some pretty decorative lacing sewed into the scarf to make it appear more sexy.
So how well do the scarves work for bondage? Pretty decently honestly if you consider what they are. For the price that they are sold at, they appear to be relatively strong and relately pretty durable as well. I wouldn’t expect these to feel like the most sensual thing on the planet for the price, but for what they are, they actually do feel pretty sexy. I’d have to imagine the manufacturer was trying to offer a cheaper version of the Liberator Silk Scarves, and they’ve done that pretty well – including cutting the price by over $60.
The scarves themselves don’t hold up to rough bondage. It’s not a matter of them tearing – it’s actually a matter of being able to slip out of them. Because the silk is so soft, it’s pretty easy to slip out of these. That having been said, it wasn’t intended to keep someone honestly restrained. It was meant to provide a sensual, sexy way to perform bondage on someone who may be nervous about it. The scarves are very light-weight, and they don’t make the person wearing them sweaty or anything. They feel very sensual against the skin.
The silk scarves can be used as far as your imagine will stretch. The scarves can be tied around a person’s head (with little extra, honestly) to make a blindfold. You can add this to an outfit as a belt or wear it as a bandanna. Of course, you have to keep the size in mind (the three feet length), but aside from that, it’s really up to your own imagination and how you want to use it. I found that it works okay as a blindfold, but you really have to double-up the fabric to make it block out the light.
Another cute aspect of the scarves is that they do hold scents pretty nicely. If this is wrapped near freshly perfumed skin, it will pick up traces of the scent that it was laid against. This makes it pretty easy to smell the scent of your partner on it, or to add your own light scent to make your play session more sensuous.
The blindfold that comes with the set is a pretty standard blindfold honestly. It’s just a regular blindfold that fits around a majority of people’s heads. It doesn’t block out all of the light from the outside world, but it does do it well enough when you compare it to most other popular blindfolds and consider the fact that it was an extra addition to the set. Overall, it feels soft against the face, doesn’t cause problems, and blocks out most of the light on the outside. The straps on the blindfold aren’t uncomfortable either, so it doesn’t cause headaches.
For the most part, I’m pretty fond of these restraints as long as you consider what they are – they weren’t made for rough bondage or to feel expensive. This was meant as a more inexpensive alternative to the silk scarves out there and as a product to do some sensual, loving bondage with. At those points, it does its job well.
