SuperHotSex Deck Review

SuperHotSex Deck
The storage for the deck

UPDATE SEPTEMBER 2021: The SuperHotSex Deck is no longer in production. This review remains for anyone who’s curious about the deck. While you’re here, why not check out my other sex toy reviews, BDSM advice, femdom advice, and BDSM scene outlines?

The SuperHotSex Deck is a deck of large, easy-to-hold cards based off the book SuperHotSex that is intended to give you great ideas for your sex life. The cards were all written up by the book’s author: Tracey Cox. The cards are made by DK Publishing, and they are sold at GoodVibes Sex Toys. The cards are full-color cards, and while they’re made of cardboard, it’s a pretty thin cardboard. The cards are must larger than your average cards at about four inches tall by three inches wide.

I will say that I get a bit annoyed by the box. The box is just like a larger version of a regular poker card deck except that, instead of having a way to tuck in the opened portion to make sure the cards don’t fall out, this one just uses a lift-off top that has no sort of latch/seal. This means that the cards must be stored upright or carefully placed on the side since a lot of movement will just cause the top to fall off and all the cards will spill out. I like to think that my cards would have a bit more protection than that, so it’s a bit of a disappointment.

The cards themselves are actually pretty gorgeous. This is because one side of the card is black and white while the front side is completely in color. The back, black-and-white sides are all just sexy pictures, while the front, colored side is all of the texture and suggestions to act out. This makes the deck appear even more sensual than if they had just chosen a basic, cardstock back for the cards. The cards end up appearing sexy instead of boring. However, the cards are made from a thin cardboard that would probably fray around the edges if shuffled a lot of times. The cards would still be readable even if frayed. The cards are laminated and avoid absorbing bodily oils pretty nicely. The models portrayed in the pictures on the cards do look like your typical models and don’t really portray the average person.

The cards are intended to be used between two people looking to have sex. They don’t seem to be made for a couple, but if you are sexually open with another couple, the two couples could take turns trying the cards. However, by the nature of exploration, I’d definitely recommend just leaving it between the two partners instead of bringing in another couple.

The backside of the cards

I’m not sure how I feel about the cards. On one hand, it’d be awesome to have a deck of cards that really makes it easy to learn some of the content from the book and apply it. On the other hand, I’m not sure if this deck of cards is it. For example, one of the cards is “Top 20 Male Fantasies”. It’s great information, but I don’t really see how that card is telling you what activity you and your partner should pursue. Another card is “Tips for Successful Sex”. Yet another is “Porn Versus Plot” which is basically how male and female fantasies differ. Another card is “The Do’s and Don’t’s of Sharing Fantasies”. As you can see, these cards don’t really give you the great ‘here’s how to have sex’ aspect I thought the deck would appeal to. Instead, this deck seems to just be like the content from the book – except chopped up to fit into small little cards. In the 13 Blue-themed cards, I’d say that only 4 of them are direct “Do this” types of cards.

I suppose if you are too busy or unmotivated to read an entire book, this deck of cards does do a simple job of providing decent information in small, easy-to-read cards. This makes it easy to just read one card and learn about the information contained in them. Really, though, the information is great stuff, and I’d much rather see someone dig into the book to get the full story than to read some of the bits and pieces in these cards.

The cards are divided into four “groups”. The blue cards are ‘Lust Lessons” which are basically a bunch of tips on how to improve the sex you’re having already like “Use Lube”. The pink cards are “Get Kinky” which are basically information on things like sex toys, crossdressing, and lots of info about bondage games. The green cards are “Show Off” cards which are basically just sex position cards. The orange cards are “Play Dirty” which are, for the most part, cards on things for the two of you to do together like watch porn, make sex phone calls, or to flash one another.

The sex positions have pretty ridiculous expectations for your average couple. A lot of them include contorting your body into difficult shapes or standing up while the male supports all the weight. Two of them are pretty basic, Tantra positions, but the majority of these are ones that you won’t be able to do unless you have the energy, flexibility, and strength. Each card shows a picture of the sex position and includes a paragraph the origin of the position and why it’s hot. It does not usually, however, describe how to get into the position which can make things difficult.

I know I spend a lot of my life reading about sex, but I really don’t feel like this deck has a lot of new, great information to offer most people. The cards are okay, but when it comes to “spicing up your sex life”, I don’t think these cards provide enough unique suggestions to do it. Having phone sex or watching porn together is something that most couples have considered – even if they haven’t done it. When I get a deck like this, I want cards that will make me think or make me jump outside my box, and I feel like that’s missing with this deck. The information, while okay, is just a cropped version of the more in-depth information in the book, so unless you really hate books or just want to learn snippets instead of having a book, I don’t see a reason to purchase these cards over the book. Thanks to Good Vibe Adult toys for sending me the SuperHotSex Deck for review, and if you’d like, I recommend you check out the SuperHotSex book.
