The Pocket Book of Foreplay

The front cover of the book

“The Pocket Book of Foreplay” is a small book that is intended to be an easy read about foreplay. It’s written by Richard Craze and published by Hunter House. The book is a softcover book with full-color pages on the inside. There are five chapters included in these 95 pages. The book is small in size at about four inches tall and five inches in length. The tagline to this book is “The Art of Sexual Excitement Explained”. The front cover shows a cover embracing, and due to the naked pictures on the inside, I’d recommend not reading this one out in public.

This book is a full-color book on the inside. The pages are background with white, but there are some color pictures spread throughout the book. The pictures represent different races as well as show quite a few nude bodies. Explicit genital shots are never shown, but the pictures are suggestive. You see quite a few naked breasts and naked butts, and all of the nude people are physically fit as well. There isn’t much of a variety in body type though some of the girls do seem to a bit more plump (not in a bad way!) than usual models.

Some of the inner pages

Just in case you were curious, this book is actually a “Pocket Book”. Literally. The boyfriend had no problem slipping this book into the pocket of his jeans. It was actually kinda funny. He does say that he has no reason to want to carry around an entire book about foreplay, but if he had a reason, it does fit in most average pants pockets.

The book is completely focused on different aspects of foreplay. It’s a nice overview of all of the different things you can manage to do during foreplay. This book was written towards the average person who hasn’t thought about different things they could do during foreplay. As such, things like “roleplay” or “dressing up” are mentioned as new and novel ideas instead of just something that you’d be doing on a regular basis. It’s definitely a book directed towards sexual beginners or those who don’t do too much out of the ‘ordinary’ with their sex.

More of the inner pages

The book is set up very simply. Each chapter includes quite a few different subchapters. Each subchapter is just two pages – it’s just one spread. Each subchapter is pretty basic in information since there’s only the page spread. For example, “Massage” only has the one spread as well as “Kissing”. As you can imagine, you can’t fit too much information into two pages, so you won’t get a very good play-by-play of information, but it will give the basics. This book seems to be more intended to give you ideas of things to do instead of actually telling you how to do the things you already do – but better.

The first chapter of the book is on “Setting the Scene” which includes all the ways to set-up your partner to be receptive to foreplay and sex. The next chapter is “Spontaneous Foreplay” which is all the ways to make your foreplay more in-the-moment instead of planned. “The Loving Touch” is all about making your foreplay more romantic and loving. “Erotic Foreplay” is about ‘kinky’ foreplay like roleplaying or dressing up. “Ecstatic Foreplay” is about the basics like orgasms, oral sex, and manual stimulation.

The book has pretty good information contained in it. A good chunk of it is just reassuring the reader that it’s okay to partake in things like blowjobs or cunnilingus, but there is some other information included. I was a bit disappointed in some of the information though. For example, the chapter on massaging never mentions to avoid having massage oil on the genitals if you want to have intercourse after the massage. The book also never mentions anything about lubricant. However, the information is usually pretty basic and all there.

I’d recommend reading “The Pocket Book of Foreplay” if you want some good ideas for your foreplay or want reassurance that your foreplay is completely normal and natural. It won’t really give you any ways to improve your current techniques, but it will give you new ideas to try out. Thanks to Hunter House for sending me “The Pocket Book of Foreplay“.
