Sex In The Shower Single Locking Foot Rest Review
The packaging

UPDATE JULY 2022: The Sex in the Shower Single Locking Foot Rest appears to be discontinued. This sex help book review remains as a reference for anyone who’s interested. While you’re here, why not check out my BDSM advice, femdom advice, BDSM Scenes Step by Step, and Should I Buy a Fleshlight?

The Sex in the Shower Single Locking Foot Rest is a waterproof “step” intended to help make shower sex more pleasurable. The entire Foot Rest is made from plastic with a large, white industrial-sized suction cup at the bottom. There’s a little lever under the foot rest that will allow you to attach it to the wall with some strength. The entire thing is about four/five inches across and about eight inches in length. This is easily large enough to fit a female or male foot with no problem. There are no rough edges on the foot rest at all.

The packaging is basic. It comes in a thin, cardboard box that’s large enough to easily store the foot rest. It’s basic packaging, and if you’d like, you can store this footrest back in the packaging. It shows pictures of the product all over the box as well as a couple in the “middle” of using the product as well. On the side of the box, there is a short diagram with text and pictures that shows how to “install” the footrest. Also included in the box is a small little “guide” of other Sex in the Shower products including handles, dual-headed shower heads, and vibrating sponges.

The Foot Rest is extremely easy to install – in fact, it was definitely made to be that way. Like the rest of the Sex in the Shower series, the Foot Rest operates with a large suction cup on the base in order to get it to stick to most surfaces. You basically press the foot rest up against the wall where you’d like it, then there’s a switch underneath the foot rest itself which flips down which pulls the suction cup in towards the foot rest and gives it a lot more pressure so it will stick. The switch is a bit difficult to pull and probably will require two hands, but this is because it’s supposed to be firm enough to hold body weight. To remove it, you just reverse the entire procedure.

The Foot Rest seems to stick to most surfaces. We got it to easily stick to the wall of our shower (it worked best if the wall was dry). It would stick to the sides of the bathtub, but it didn’t stick at the curved front and back portion. It needs at least four square inches of space to stick which is important to remember if you have shower tiles. (We have flat shower walls so it went on with no problem.) It also easily stuck to my counter, my bookshelves, and the kitchen table. Basically, all it needs is a completely flat and completely smooth surface – it sticks to anything that meets that criteria.

This Foot Rest was never really intended to hold a person’s full body weight. While it was intended to help support, it doesn’t seem like it was meant to hold the blunt of the weight. It seems to hold a bit more of the boyfriend’s body weight (proportionally) since he weighs more, so he can rest more of his weight on it. But no, it was never intended to hold a full weight. Consider it more of a rest – like a soda cooler. You hold your full weight one leg but use the Foot Rest for stability. This isn’t something you could attach to the kitchen counter to use as a foot stool. However, for most light shower use, it seemed to hold its own and not slip down the shower wall. I had a bit of a problem when I went to (unsexily) shave my legs leaning weight on it – it doesn’t seem like it was meant to support that much weight, so that was a no-go unfortunately.

Something that I had a bit of a problem with was the texture of the foot rest itself – or, honestly, the lack thereof. The Foot Rest’s platform is completely texture-less. While it does include a slick curve in the surface to help keep your foot on the platform, both the boyfriend and I still had a problem with the slippery surface making it difficult to keep our feet on the platform. I just wish there had been a dotted texture or something like that. (However, if you really love the idea of this foot rest, don’t let that stop you. You can easily pick up a “slip grip” at your local store for like a dollar that will fit the problem.)

You don’t have to use the Single Locking Foot Rest just in the shower. You could also attach this to a wall or bookshelf for having sex up against a wall. It could be used in non-shower ways, but honestly, this one has less “extra” uses compared to some of the Sex in the Shower products. Not a bad thing, but this one doesn’t as-easily move around the house.

This doesn’t really require any cleaning. It can be left up on the wall or can be taken down for storage. I’d recommend you allow it to fully dry before shoving it into storage. Any lubricant falling on it won’t hurt the material, and it’s fully white, so it’d be easy to clean off any dirt messes as soon as you spot them.

The Sex in the Shower Single Locking Foot Rest is a good invention if you enjoy sex in upright positions in the water. It helps support some weight – but not all of it. If having comfortable, kinky shower sex is in the cards for you, I’d look into it. However, since it doesn’t have too much application outside of the shower, this one just isn’t too useful for me.
