Beautifully designed with black PU leather and gold metal accents, the Lady MEO Slave Collar in Gold is part of MEO’s new line designed with feminine tastes in mind. This collar has the word “SLAVE” in metal lettering on the front of the collar with a standard, non-locking buckle on the back of the collar. The collar’s lettering is approximately 1.4″ in height and designed to fit a neck from 11.5″ to 15.4″ in circumference. It’s worth noting that this black and gold BDSM collar doesn’t have any front O-Rings for bondage points.
The MEO Black and Gold Slave Collar features a standard buckle fastener. It doesn’t have any locking functions, but it does have three D-rings that “hold” the excess collar length down against the neck if you tend to be a small-necked person. The buckle slips through any of the holes really easily as each hole is lined with a metal ring. No “breaking in the leather” required for this.
Speaking of the faux leather used for this collar, it’s particularly thin – but extremely slick and soft against the skin. It folds up and moves around really nicely with virtually no resistance or thickness to it, and it’s treated with something that makes it feel semi-vinyl like with a very glossy surface. This material allows moisture to “bead” up on it, and it’s not particularly breathable against the skin. It does feel really nice, though, on the skin, with virtually no scratchiness or unpleasantness from the faux leather material.
That’s not necessarily the entirety of how the collar feels, though. The faux leather feels pretty nice (albeit, not very breathable) against the parts of the skin where the faux leather touches. However, you have to remember that the “Slave” lettering of the collar also touches the skin where the collar rests. There is no backing behind the “Slave” lettering, and it directly touches the skin. This isn’t a huge issue – though it is occasionally kinda itchy. It’s noticeably more bothersome along the collar bone when the (somewhat) heavy metal letters tend to rest against the bone. If you aren’t a smaller-bodied person with a pronounced collarbone, you might not notice it, but he tends to find it aggravating enough to need to strip off the collar if he isn’t wearing a shirt or some other high-collared piece of clothing to help cushion against the lettering. A thicker collar material – and a collar interior layer – probably would have prevented this, but then you’d have other issues to deal with. So it’s just something to be aware of.
This Black and Gold BDSM Collar has no “moving” pieces when a person moves, so it’s virtually silent when worn. No jingling O-rings or metal hardware – which is definitely not the norm with most BDSM collars.
The Lady MEO Slave Collar in Gold does have some adjustable pieces, though. All five letters of the word “SLAVE” can be moved individually throughout the entirety of the collar’s length. It takes some effort to move them (they don’t just slip and slide), and they pretty much stay in place unless you’re using your fingers to push them around (they don’t just slide around while you’re wearing it on your neck). If you’re a larger-neck person, you can slide the letters apart to make them take up more space on your neck. If you’re a smaller-neck person, you can slide the letters closer together. It’s about just being able to customize your black and gold BDSM collar a bit more.
Unlike most standard BDSM collars, this collar doesn’t have any D-rings or O-rings in the front. It does have that trio of D-rings in the back of the collar designed to hold down the excess material from fastening, but those will be (presumably) worn in the back when the collar is on. The rings are, however, decently sturdy and could function as a make-shift bondage point if necessary. Otherwise, consider the Lady MEO Slave Collar in Gold to mostly be a decorative collar.
While there were no excess stitches or any obvious quality concerns about the faux leather itself, it’s worth mentioning that the “Slave” gold hardware on the front had a few scratches when I first received the collar. It’s quite possible that some of this happened during shipping, but for a higher price tag, it’s not something I’d expect straight out of the box when I’m receiving it. So take extra care of the collar with storage and how you keep it – no point in getting scratches onto your own collar.
Aside from that, you’ll likely just want to treat your Lady MEO Slave Collar like a standard collar for storage. Try not to store it folded (either fully flat or rounded). Try to keep it out of any direct sunlight or any abrasive chemicals or extremely humid environments. With the concerns over scratching, you might want to keep it wrapped in some sort of foam or protective layer if you want to keep it looking immaculate. It’s pretty simple to take care of, honestly.
Overall, the Lady MEO Slave Collar isn’t a bad collar. As long as you consider it more of a “decorative” collar than a functional, BDSM bondage point, you’re likely going to love the Lady MEO Slave Collar.
