LoversPremium Body Octopus Massager Review

Simple and straight to the point, the LoversPremium Body Octopus Massager is a simple massage tool sold by MEO.de. Different than the other massage tools that MEO.de sells, this little guy is shaped like an octopus. (Isn’t it hard not to anthropomorphize it?) It’s relatively small at 3.15″ in height with a diameter (at the widest points of the legs) of 4″. I’m not quite sure I’d agree with the market copy’s description of “pocket-sized”, but it’s standard-sized for most massage implements. It’s waterproof and made from a simple, but strong, ceramic material.

Unlike many other MEO.de options, this Body Octopus Massager comes in the packaging from the original manufacturer. This is a basic cardboard box that holds the Octopus massager inside. You can use this box for storage – as it’s the perfect size for the Octopus’s odd shape. The box easily reseals, but it’s not a sturdy box, so heavier items can’t be stacked on top of it.

As you can tell from the photos, this sensual body massager looks just like a little octopus. It’s not the cutest octopus that I’ve ever seen, but you’re certainly not going to confuse it for another shape; it’s definitely octopus-shaped. The bottom of all of the legs and the massager itself has no texture or indentations, but the top-side of the massager has a lot of etched in “details”. The octopus has little rings around the top of its tentacles, and it has a face on the head of the massager. The massager is extremely light-weight, and it’s hollow on the inside. It also can clearly hold up to a lot of pressure; it’s definitely designed for heavy, deep tissue massages.

While the etching detail on the massager is pretty cute, it can also make for some drawn-out cleaning. As long as your hand is dry (which it honestly needs to be to get a good grip on the octopus) before you grip onto the massager’s head, you likely won’t need to worry too much about cleaning up the top-side of the massager. The tentacle side has very little texture and cleans up easily from massage oil. However, if your hands are covered in bodily fluids, lotion, or oil, expect to spend a decent amount of time cleaning up the top side of this octopus massager. While I appreciate the attempted attention to detail, it should never come at the cost of the effectiveness of the massager – and in this case, it does.

The Octopus is pretty simply designed for a single type of use – holding the head of the “octopus”, the legs of the Octopus can be used to offer a deep tissue massage into the skin. This provides eight little legs that provide pressure onto the skin. It’s definitely a targeted sensation. Imagine the sensation of pressing the knuckles into the skin; it feels similarly to that. Because it’s such an intense sensation, I recommend using this part of the Octopus on only the larger, fleshier bits of the body. The butt, the back, and the thighs will likely be your targets. The sensation can be somewhat painful on the smaller bits like upper shoulders, arms, or calves. Regardless of spot, however, it’s definitely a deep tissue massage – and you should be sure your partner likes that type of massage before bringing this little guy out.

However, if you want to get a bit more creative, it can be a bit harder to hold, but you can hold onto the legs and use the Octopus’ head to massage the skin. Depending upon the size of your fingers, this might feel comfortable (or not). For my medium-glove-size female hands, my fingers fit in between the octopus legs perfectly. My male partner’s medium-sized-glove hands also fit perfectly. Larger hands may not fit so well. When using it this way, as the head is a broader piece of ceramic, it definitely has less of a sting to it. The sensation is still deep tissue, but it feels more relaxing instead of piercing. Still, I’d keep to the broader, squishier areas of the body – and still keep in mind about the cleaning issues that are likely to arise if you’re using it this way. Lotion and any oil will get stuck into the detailed etchings along the body of the octopus, so keep this in mind for clean-up (or don’t use lotion for these times).

As the Body Octopus Massager is a single piece of ceramic, it’s simple to clean up as long as you didn’t get lotion or bodily fluids onto the top-side of the massager. The bottom side is ceramic and cleans up pretty easily with warm water and anti-bacterial soap. Depending on the massage lotion you used, it might take more effort than you’d expect. Oil-based lotions are particularly hard to clean up. Just give it a second bath after the first and you’ll likely have the LoversPremium Body Octopus Massager good to go. This massager is compatible with all types of lotions and lubricants, and for storage, it does tend to work pretty well being kept within its original box.

Overall, the Body Octopus Massager is a good massager to provide targeted, deep tissue stimulation during a massage. It can get frustrating to clean depending on how you use it, so I recommend keeping dry hands and using it as it was intended (with the feet providing the massaging). It’s affordable, simple to use, and does a pretty damn good job of providing a deeper massage with very little strength required on the holder’s part. Thanks to MEO.de for providing this ceramic body massager for my Body Octopus Massager review.
