Clandestine Mimic Vibrator Review

Clandestine Mimic Vibrator Review

Designed as an external stimulation toy especially crafted with curves to lay against the vulva area, the Mimic vibrator is a full silicone toy manufacturered by Clandestine Devices. The toy is entirely waterproof, features an optional travel lock, and is rechargeable via USB. It comes equipped with 8 patterns along with adjustable steady-speed vibrations.

The Mimic vibrator comes nice and beautifully packaged. The cardboard box is extremely sturdy, and it opens up to display this silicone vibrator in a tray specifically designed for its shape. The accessories are stored in a small area next to the toy’s storage tray. The outside of this box is pretty beautiful, and it shows off the “luxury” class that the Mimic is designed to fit into. The box is also particularly sturdy, and it could be used for long-term storage without getting crushed or destroyed. The Mimic sex toy comes with the Mimic, a USB charging cable, instructions, and a draw string bag.

Clandestine Mimic Vibrator Review

I have to give the Mimic vibrator this: it’s a beautiful toy. I took it out of the package, and I was pretty amazed by the design. I had some pretty high hopes for this vibrator. It looked like it would provide full-vulva pleasure, and I was pretty excited to see exactly how it would work out. It looks beautiful, and I can see how it has gotten the hype it’s gotten so far.

The entire toy is made from a silky-smooth silicone that your fingers just glide over. (Very similar to the LELO silicone) The mid-line of the vibrator is pretty firm and rigid (likely plastic with the motor inside those bits) while the “wings” of the Mimic vibrator on other side have no extra rigidity, and they’re relatively soft and squishy and flexible. The flexibility of the “wings” should allow most body-types to use the Mimic without any uncomfortable poking in the thighs.

The base is made of a see-through plastic, and it lights up when the toy is being used. That’s it. It lights up for some reason. The light doesn’t correspond with a pattern or change at all which would notify your partner of what function they’re using, so it just lets you know the toy is in-use. In pure darkness, the light actually functions more like a little flashlight. However, that flashlight is pretty directional, so it only allows you to see what the vibrator is pointing at – and leaves the control buttons entirely encased in darkness. So, again, I’m not super sure what the light during use is supposed to do.

Speaking of controls, the Mimic has a pretty simple control system. There are three buttons – a power button, an increase, and a decrease button. Each one offers a nice, satisfying “click” when the button is pressed. The power button can be held down to turn off the vibrator, or a single click will change the vibrator from steady vibrations into one of the patterned vibrations. The control buttons are opposite the side of the vibrator designed to rest against the vulva, so they should be easy to access for most people.

Never worry about batteries again! The Mimic vibrator is entirely rechargeable. The port is protected by a flexible silicone “cover” when not charging. Just plug the toy’s USB cord into the charging port and the toy will begin to charge. A flashing light means the toy is charging while a solid light means that it’s entirely done. According to the product manual, the toy should take 2 hours to fully charge – but I haven’t tested that. Charging the vibrator is simple and easy. No complaints there.

If you’re used to strong vibrations, you’ll likely be disappointed by the Mimic vibrator. It doesn’t have much to offer in the power department. The vibrations tend to on the buzzy, softer side. I’m not even sure I’d call them “moderate” compared to most standard clitoral vibrations. Considering a lot of vagina owners require a decent amount of power and stimulation to orgasm, the Mimic may not be an orgasmic toy for many. However, due to the long, full-coverage stimulation that the Mimic can provide along with the clitoral sensations, the Mimic can work just fine as a tease or warm-up toy for most people. You just may not want to expect orgasms.

On the opposite side, though, the Mimic sex toy is extremely quiet. You’ll have difficulty hearing it while in the same room – even using it on yourself if there’s music or TV going. If discretion is of the utmost importance, outside of that obnoxious bright light at the base of the Mimic, the Mimic is extremely discreet.

I’m a bit saddened by the possibilities the Mimic offered – but didn’t take advantage of. Slimming down the base and adding a wireless control remote would have made the Mimic a good choice for public and discreet panty wearing. The full-coverage design would offer more pleasure and press up comfortably against the body – and give a higher likelihood of actually hitting the right spot instead of typical smaller bullet vibrators. Added to the fact that teasing public toys don’t need to be strong enough for orgasm, and you’d have a good use for the Mimic right there. An optional Mimic waist harness would have allowed the body-curving design to be pressed up against the body really nicely and comfortable without having to worry about using a full hand to hold the vibrator. That could have been great for hands-free foreplay use.

See, the issue with holding the Mimic is a problem twofold: for one, the vibration frequency numbs your hands pretty quickly. For the second, though, in order to fully enjoy the curvature and full-surface-pleasure of the Mimic, you have to press it up against the body. That means holding the toy at the base will leave some of the vibrator not pressed up against the body. This means you have to cup the vibrator against your body – which presents an event-faster hand numbing experience.

It’s interesting enough that, if the vibrator had been equipped with deeper, more powerful vibrations, most of these problems would have been avoided. It could be cupped against the body and used for more than a tease. But as it stands, the vibrator will likely only be a “must-have” for people who happen to orgasm easily by lighter vibrations.

When it comes to cleaning, though, the Clandestine Mimic is simple to clean. Entirely waterproof with the charging port covered, this toy can be cleaned with warm water and anti-bacterial soap. With the super-smooth, no-textured design, it cleans up pretty easily. I’d avoid getting any direct, running water into the port – closed or not – just in case. On occasion, you’ll likely want to use a cotton swab and clean out the port of the toy – as the port and the port’s cover will likely be in contact with vaginal fluids pretty often due to the toy’s design. If choosing to use lubricant with this product (though there’s very little reason to), you should select a water-based lubricant. And of course, for storage, you can use the original packaging, or the Mimic vibrator can be stored in the included pouch.

Overall, the Mimic is an okay vibrator if you really love full-coverage vibrations and can orgasm from softer sensations. If other vibrators tend to overpower you, the Mimic might be where you’ll find your pleasure. I really think this vibrator could have its chance to shine with a wireless remote, but as it is, it’s rechargeable, simple to use, and pretty and fashionable to look at. Thanks to Clandestine Devices for sending out this silicone vibrator for my Mimic vibrator review.
