Play While Hundreds of Miles Away: Vibease Vibrator Review

Vibease Vibrator
Vibease Vibrator

Looking for a small, portable clitoral vibrator that’s designed to work with a cell phone app for long-distance control? That’s the Vibease in a nutshell. Made of silicone with a small protruding area for pinpoint stimulation, this vibrator is rechargeable and entirely wireless. It’s water-resistant, and it can be synced with erotic audiobooks, controlled by a partner’s phone, or controlled by your own phone. For those times you don’t want your phone, the vibrator can also be controlled without use of the app.

Entirely designed to be used in conjunction with your cell phone, the Vibease is compatible with iPhone and Android phones that support Bluetooth 4.0. All Samsung Galaxy models require at least Android Kitkat 4.4.2 to function. Be aware that you’ll need to download a (free!) app from your device’s corresponding app store.

The Vibease’s packaging is very simplistic, clean, and pretty. A sturdy pink and blue box is covered with a white slipcover that gives all of the basic functions of the vibrator. Inside the box, you’ll find a molded tray where the Vibease vibrator sits in addition to the instructions, charging cables, and a small, black drawstring pouch.

Vibease is one of the few wireless vibrators out there that can be controlled via your cell phone over long distances by a partner. There are only a few other options out there. This app is relatively feature-packed and offers a lot of different ways to listen to your music. There’s a “Quick Play” mode that allows you to control the toy right then. There are erotic audiobooks that you can listen to that have pre-programmed vibrational modes that the toy will vibrate to. There are “Ambient” noises such as “Beach” or “Airplane” built into the app. You can open these noises and then create (and enjoy the vibrations while creating) saveable profiles that will subsequently play when you open these ambient noise tracks again. Same with your own music collection. While the app doesn’t vibrate to a baseline of a track like the OhMiBod series will, it will allow you to create and save your playlist to your favorite songs to enjoy the exact same sensations next time you want to listen to the song. It also has a chatroom mode that allows your partner (or partners) to control the vibrations of your toy. Only one can be connected to the vibe at a time, but multiple people are allowed onto the contact list. I haven’t tested it yet, but this mode allows for use of the camera for videochatting as well.

It’s worth noting that, in the two months I’ve had the toy, the company has made multiple updates to the usability and use of the app – including a ton more audio books. (Including resolving a complaint I initially had about the Quick Play controls) The new audiobooks are free and paid options, so it seems like the company is quite dedicated to keeping up with the app and the toy.

Look of the app with the downloadable audiobook options

One of the biggest focuses of the Vibease’s wireless and cell phone compatibility is clearly its ability to sync effortlessly with erotic audiobooks available on the app. While they clearly want to make some money here via a “Credits” system that allows you to purchase lengthier audio-books, there’s a large selection of free books to enjoy as well. Some are actual audiobooks while others just seem to be like …stand-in phone sex conversations? Not a terrible thing, though. For example, one of them is a guy supposedly in the throws of masturbation and telling you all of the things he’d like to do with you while he moans and describes what he’s doing. Certainly not a bad thing to listen to.

Navigating within the app is pretty decent. It can be a bit confusing at first, but you’ll pick it up after finding the features the first time.

Quick play screen of the Vibease app

As far as the app goes, it’s okay. I’m not super in love with the Quick Play’s screen – which is how I usually use the Vibease. It’s a large black screen with “Speed” up the vertical axis and “Power” across the horizontal access. You can pick a point in-between all of those items, and a bunch of blue circles circle around the point and disappear, and the vibrator should respond accordingly. It’s relatively touchy, and what it basically does is operate the patterns and the power. Only the top-most touches will have steady vibration intensity – which is frustrating for someone like myself who doesn’t really like patterns. Touch a little underneath where that steady vibration invisible line is, and it’ll be a pattern. Luckily, you can drag on the screen, so that helps a bit. On a similar note, since all of the indicator marks disappear after you lift your finger off the screen, you have no idea where your vibrator’s power level is currently set. Not a huge deal if using it yourself, but when a partner can’t feel the vibrations, they don’t really know if their next move is going to increase or decrease the intensity or where you’re even at. I’d much rather see two separate settings for precise control instead of this dynamic control. I could pick various patterns and then use a scroll indicator for intensities while in that pattern. Win-win.

The dynamic control also makes it a bit difficult to communicate enjoyment levels to your partner. Where-as, if it was a precise control, I could say “I like Pattern 3 at about 75% power. That will get me off”. As it stands, I can say “I like a spot in the upper, right-hand quadrant”…and that leaves him/her with still guessing through 10+ settings.

Power buttons on the back of the Vibease Vibrator

On the positive side, the app does have a “Connectivity” icon that shows you how well the vibrator is responding and the power of the range – similar to the power of your wireless internet or cell phone reception bars.

I absolutely hate setting up most wireless items. In fact, time and time again, I’ve let new toys, tech or sexual, become “sitting on my desk unopened” because I’m just not looking forward to setting up the technology it requires. In this particular instance, I’m happy to report that the Vibease did not deserve my trepidation. I downloaded the app onto my Android phone. I had the vibrator charged and ready to go. I opened the app, made an account, and the app walked me through connecting the vibrator. It was a 3 minute process at most with absolutely no hiccups. On occasion, the app pushes out push notifications when new audiobooks are added to the Vibease store. Otherwise, it doesn’t seem to have any other notifications/affect on the phone. For review purposes, I use a Samsung Galaxy Note 5, and I’ve had no issues.

Most of the vibrator’s main app functions require or suggest hands-free use of the Vibease. The vibrator does not come with a harness or panty that easily makes that possible. However, the vibrator’s small and compact size means that it can be partnered with your favorite pair of panties to hold the toy in the “perfect” spot. If playing out in public or with a lot of movement, you might consider modifying a pair of panties by sewing a small pouch into the perfect spot for the vibrator. For at-home or laying-down use, a pair of particularly tight panties should keep the vibrator in the place you need it to stay just by pressing it against the body.

Vibease Vibrator
Another view of how small the Vibease Vibrator is

The vibrations are quite focused in that clitoral tip that protrudes from the toy. That’s a positive. The vibrator is also relatively magically-shaped. As-in, whomever made the Vibease definitely took time to study the curvature of the average vulva. With the “bulk” of the toy facing up towards the abdomen, I found that the toy fit absolutely perfectly against my body with the protruding clitoral piece in perfect place. My regular panties seemed to keep this in place against my body – even while out and walking. As mentioned before, the vibrations are definitely centered around the clitoral protrusion, but some of the vibrations can be felt along the rest of the vibrator as well.

Of course, the most important aspect of a vibrator is just how strong the vibrations are. And in the case of the Vibease, they’re not that strong. They’re not terrible by any means, but they’re definitely on the softer side of average. That being said, it’s not a vibrator that could get me to orgasm at any point – which is certainly frustrating if that’s what you’re going for. However, with all of the other strengths that the Vibease offers (the amazing body-curved design, the effortless app use, the very quiet noise level), I’ve found that Vibease offers a very niche use for public play and long-distance teasing for me. I’m not necessarily looking for a powerhouse of a vibrator while at a restaurant – I’m looking for a fun tease that doesn’t interfere with other patrons of the restaurant – and that’s exactly what the Vibease provides. While the vibrations can get a bit numbing if kept on the most-powerful setting for long amounts of time, as long as your controller varies up the sensation sometimes, it offers a very pleasurable sensation for some perfect foreplay – with your “finale” at some other point.

With that in mind, if you’re sensitive to vibrations, you may be able to orgasm as long as you have some very direct contact to your sensitive spots. Just “resting” the toy against the vulva doesn’t seem to press the vibrations firmly enough into the body to get to the point of orgasm. This means those who are okay with softer vibrations will likely be able to hand-hold the toy against themselves and get an orgasm from the Vibease.

And the noise level? The Vibease is every bit as quiet as it claims to be. It’s extremely hard to hear – even in a quiet room. If you’re out in public anywhere with any sort of basic noise (such as anyone else having a conversation or quiet shopping music or anything), you’ll be a-okay in terms of noise. It doesn’t make much of any.

Once you’ve gotten around to enjoying your Vibease, you’ll need to take some time to charge it back up to full power. Unlike many other remote-controlled toys, since the Vibease uses your cell phone as the remote, you only have to worry about the battery level of a single item instead of multiple items. The vibrator has a nice tiny port on the base of it that the vibrator’s charging cable slides into. It takes a noticeably-long 5 hours to fully charge the Vibease – but that 5 hours will give you 3 hours of playtime. Easily worth it if you just charge your Vibease overnight.

Make sure to take some time to take care of your vibrator. Keeping it clean is just as vital as enjoying some time with its vibrations. The Vibease is water resistant (not waterproof!), so it does afford you a bit of safety when cleaning the toy. Don’t dunk it under any water or put it under any running water, but you can use a wet washcloth with anti-bacterial soap to clean off its surface. As this internet-controlled vibrator is made from silicone, it’s best to use water-based lubricants with it. Silicone-based lubricants may damage the material, so make sure to do a small spot test if you want to use silicone with it. For storage, the toy comes with a small black drawstring bag you can use. It’s not my favorite method, but it’ll get the job done.

Overall, the Vibease offers a whole lot of teasing and erotic potential. I wouldn’t look towards the Vibease to be my sole “orgasmic” vibrator, but if it comes to enjoying a masturbation session with an audiobook, letting a partner control the vibrator from miles away, or having some fun in public, the Vibease excels particularly well. It connects and functions with the app without any hassle, and the shape of the Vibease is surprisingly well-focused on clitoral pleasure and tucks into the panties really nicely. It’s extremely quiet and discreet. The only thing to work around is the fact that the Vibease vibrations aren’t particularly powerful – which makes it fantastic for teasing, public use, and playful play with a partner. Thanks to Vibease for sending out the remote-controlled wireless vibrator for my Vibease review.
