Pleasure Works Maven Dildo

Made from 100% silicone, the Pleasure Works Maven dildo is a body-safe toy sold by Good Vibrations. Compatible with strap-on harnesses and safe as an anal toy, this toy is 7.75″ in length with a width of slightly over an inch and a half. Made in the US, it has a semi-realistic design with a circumstized head. It also features a slight curve, but as the dildo is pretty flexible, this doesn’t provide targeted pressure for those who are looking for it.

Showing how flexible the Pleasure Works Maven Dildo is

The Pleasure Works Maven is packaged in some pretty standard packaging. Don’t expect a lot of it, but it will deliver your new sex toy to you safely, and that’s about all you really need it to do. The box is a light cardboard box that is about the exact size of the dildo, so it can work for long-term storage. However, the box is pretty flimsy, so it may get crushed during storage. The box is rectangular to make it easy to wrap as a gift, and it includes a lot of good information on the box including material information.

If you’re looking for a semi-realistic dildo, the Pleasure Works Maven will suit your needs. It’s not quite as realistic as some other toys, and the material doesn’t feel nearly as “real feel skin” as others, but it still has that realistic-like design to it with a veined shaft and a circumsized head. It even has a urethra hole! It isn’t realistic enough to pass off as a “real” penis, though. It still has a slightly cartoon-ish design.

Showing the head texturing

The Pleasure Works Maven is made with a nice silicone – but it isn’t nearly as “smooth” as some of the silicones I’ve felt. It definitely has a “tacky” feeling to it. It’s not gross-tacky like PVC toys (where it leaves a film on your hands), but your hands don’t glide down the shaft. They get stuck every couple inches or so. I particularly hate using this dildo without a condom as this material seems to eat lubricant. I’d really recommend a condom and lubricant for this one – plus, it makes clean-up easier anyway!

Shaft versus head texturing

The texturing is definitely different on the Maven dildo. It’s actually surprising. There’s a slight bit of skin wrinkling and texture near the head, but the entire shaft is very smooth. There are a couple noticeable veins along the shaft, but it isn’t anything like the detailed texturing around the head of the penis. It actually looks like the texture was taken from a real penis – with the look of skin and everything. The shaft, however, looks unrealistically smooth. It’s an odd choice of design, but it doesn’t hurt anything, and it adds a bit of uniqueness to the dildo, so I’m not complaining.

Base of the Pleasure Works Maven Dildo

Equipped with a base, this sex toy is compatible with strap-on harnesses – and it actually makes a pretty good strap-on toy too. The base is wide and stable, so it fits in a harness well and stays standing about how you’d like. The base isn’t too “pokey”, so the dildo will grind up against your body if you’d like added pleasure while wearing it.

Not only that, but this dildo can work surprisingly well for strap-on sex because of the length. This silicone sex toy has a standard width – but an above-average length. I personally love longer dildos for strap-on. It makes it easier to get things in as well as offers more length for the person receiving. I don’t like having to be afraid about pulling “too far out” and having things slip out. The longer length on this dildo really lends itself well to alleviating that concern. As a plus-sized girl, it’s especially helpful. For partners that can’t take wider widths (which usually correspond with longer toys), have a longer toy with an average width is awesome.

The base is entirely flat. It doesn’t have a concave design, and this toy doesn’t function well as a suction cup toy that will hold itself to flat surfaces. The base, however, is very sturdy, and it holds the toy upright with absolutely no problems. It doesn’t tip.

Cleaning this silicone strap-on dildo is pretty simple. It’s silicone! That’s what makes it so easy. Use warm water and anti-bacterial soap for regular cleaning, and it can be sterilized in boiling water or a water and bleach bath solution. Water-based lubricant is recommended – though I’ve used Wet Platinum with this dildo with no problem. For storage, this toy does seem to pick up some hair and lint, so I’d really recommend keeping it in a bag or a box to help reduce how much you’ll need to clean off before play. The material doesn’t attract “everything”, but it attracts a decent amount of lint and dust.

Overall, this is a fantastic dildo for strap-on play. It’s long, yet still average in width, which is great for plus-sized strap-on play. The toy has a really nice, natural shape to it, and the base isn’t thick – yet it’s sturdy – to allow it to fit nicely in a harness and stand up on its own. Thanks to Good Vibrations for providing this silicone dildo for my Pleasure Works Maven dildo review.
