The Basket Case Metal Bondage Restraints Review
The restraints while on

UPDATE FEBRUARY 2023: The company, Sex and Metal, no longer seems to be in existence. This sex toy review remains as a reference for anyone looking for information about this BDSM toy. Combining the sexy, creative look of metal with functional bondage restraints, Sex and Metal has created the Basket Case metal handcuffs. The width of this metal device is 4.5″ while the minimum wrist cuff size is 1.25″ and the maximum wrist cuff size is 3″. Featuring an inner spiral design that looks sexy, this point is also functional as it can serve as a good spot for a rope bondage point. These restraints are available in Candy Apple Red (super erotic color!) and Natural Polished Steel.

These handcuffs are different than your standard handcuffs. Instead of your standard bondage items, these have a very unique design. Instead of just snapping closed, both sides of the handcuffs have a piece that’s fully removable. (Which means you could lose it, so don’t do that!) Once that piece is removed, your captive places their wrist against the middle portion of the cuff. You then place that piece back “onto” the original spot where it went, and you use the included metal side screws to fasten the loose piece to the middle piece. These metal side screws just twist into place to fasten the handcuffs, so you don’t need any specific tools or anything.

Another view of the cuffs being worn

The nice thing about these handcuffs is that they’re adjustable. Either side allows for simple adjustment of how large the wrist area is. By not putting on the metal side screws as tightly, you can allow for larger-wristed people to use them. My partner has super, duper small wrists, and we can put them on all the way, and he still can’t escape. For a test, I tried my wrists, and despite my “fat” wrists, the sides of the cuffs didn’t pinch my skin or cause any pain – and they still fit comfortably. So this piece of metal bondage gear was definitely designed to fit a huge variety of sizes.

These aren’t unescapable. This is probably for the best. However, if you have someone with long fingers (damn my choice of partners), they can, with difficulty and finagling, get the “fastener” to unscrew itself. It takes a lot of work, and if you had other bondage on them or were keeping an eye on them, they wouldn’t be able to do it, but these are escapable if they really want to get out of them. It’s possible I could add in some locks or really get creative to keep them from being unescapable, but I haven’t gotten quite that creative as of yet.

The handcuffs keep the hands slightly separated from one another. In fact, for you gaming types, this is about the perfect length to play a video game and hold the controller. So if you’re someone that enjoys going about your regular day while in bondage, the Basket Case handcuffs can really lend themselves well to that. This small separation also allows for pretty simple use of the hands. This means that you can use your hands to make dinner or go about other things. It’ll be more difficult than usual, but it’s still totally possible. As with any metal handcuffs, you shouldn’t sleep on them in case you accidentally position yourself incorrectly while sleeping and don’t realize that the cuffs are hurting you.

The inner design of the handcuffs

Like all metal bondage items, you’ll want to exercise some caution while using these. Like mentioned above, don’t sleep in them. Along with that, if you feel any sort of sharp pain, it should be removed. Metal can press into the skin and pinch nerves, and it’s definitely an owwie. Since these cuffs fasten at two different sides instead of having the “squeeze tighter” design of standard handcuffs, it’s much less likely that you’re going to cause any damage while using these. Like usual, though, exercising caution is never a bad thing.

My partner really likes these. He says that they do a great job of bondage without hurting or pinching as he moves his hands. He notes that they’re still metal, so they still are very unforgiving, but unlike other metal items we’ve used, he never feels that his skin gets accidentally pinched. He can easily move his wrists around while playing his video games, and aside from the fact that he can’t move his wrists farther or closer apart, he still has a slight amount of freedom for comfort. We’ve also had some luck with using the Basket Case Metal Bondage Restraints to restrain his hands behind his back, and that works pretty well as well.

As a note, my partner also claims that, when “sitting up sideways”, these handcuffs look like a small alien ready to take over the Earth. Obviously, that’s relevant.

To clean the Basket Case handcuffs, you’ll want to wash them down in a bath of warm water and antibacterial soap. Make sure you dry these fully as they are metal, and while you’re at it, be careful as these cuffs include smaller parts that could possibly slide down the drain if you aren’t paying attention.

Overall, the Basket Case handcuffs are super unique and super sexy at the same time. Do you see that cool design in-between the cuffs? Yeah, it’s amazing. The cuffs are easy to fasten onto your partner – even without experience – and while they aren’t unescapable, they are very difficult to escape without being left alone in them for a long time. While they are metal, so you should take those safety things into concern, these metal bondage restraints are better than many handcuff-types because they stay fastened at a specific size and are oval in shape to more-naturally fit to the shape of a wrist. Thanks to Sex and Metal for providing this metal bondage handcuffs for my Basket Case review.
