UPDATE APRIL 2023: This vibrator is no longer in production. This sex toy review remains for anyone who is curious about it. While you’re here, why not check out some additional educational info – like online submissive tasks, beginner pegging positions, saran wrap bondage, and enema 101 info.

The U Touch Down silicone vibrator is a rechargeable phthalates-free vibrator made by Topco Toys. Slightly over nine inches long with a diameter of about an inch, the U Touch Down charges via a magnetic charging connection. Also splashproof, this pink vibrator has 16 speeds and LED back-lit buttons. In a very, very interesting and bold move, the U Touch Down also has touchscreen controls instead of the standard buttons that you’d expect on a vibrator.

The touchscreen controls

Topco Toys designed this vibrator with stunning packaging in mind. The packaging is really designed to “wow” you from the moment that you pick up the toy. The inner portion of the packaging is made up of a strong, sturdy cardboard that can be recycled. There’s a thin cardboard sleeve that slips over this to keep the inner portion from accidentally coming open. Inside this inner box, there’s a foam cut-out where the U Touch Down rests and there’s a side area where the charger is located as well as the instruction manual. The packaging is pretty unique, so it doesn’t open like standard packaging, so it might take most people a bit to figure out how to open it, but once you know the secrets, it’s easy to get in and out of the packaging.

I do have to complain about the instruction manual. It’s pretty much useless. For a sex toy like this that has “touch sensitive’ controls instead of regular buttons, I was curious about locking and charging functions. The instruction manual talks about inserting batteries (this is a rechargeable toy) and the “how to use” instructions include things like “insert into vagina/anus to desired length then turn on vibrations to desired strength”. Which, as you can imagine, is not helpful at all. The box gives you a couple of sentences that are more helpful than the instruction manual.

There are three toys in the U Touch vibrator line. This is the “Down” version which is the standard version. The U Touch Up vibrator is a small, clitoral vibrator while the U Touch Side vibrator is a shorter version of this vibrator with a more intense g-spot curve. The U Touch Down seems like it’s best suited to be the “middle ground” with strong enough vibrations for clitoral use as well as a longer body for vaginal use too. The silicone itself is pretty soft and slick, but it does have some draggy sensation to it. However, compared to most silicone, it’s definitely very slick. If you want to insert it, though, I’d still recommend that you add a good bit of lubricant to make sure that everything goes smoothly.

As previously mentioned, the U Touch Down vibrator is rechargeable. There are two little magnetic ports on the backside of the vibrator, near the base, where the rechargeable connector connects. I definitely find this connection to be more than a little annoying. The magnetic connection doesn’t seem strong enough to stay connected easily. Along with this, there’s a little plastic “ridge” at the base of the vibrator that seems to get in the way of the connector laying flat against the vibrator. With these two things put together, it took me a good couple minutes to try and find a way to make the connector stay connected to the vibrator to charge. Once I had it set-up, it stayed connected, though, so that was a positive. On another positive, there’s a red LED light on the charger that blinks to let you know when it’s successfully connected and charging.

What really sets the U Touch Down apart from other vibrators is the touch screen controls, though. These controls are pretty amazing. Instead of being buttons, they are basic buttons that operate simply with a button press. They seem to be a lot less sensitive if your hands are covered with lubricant or water, but they still seem to work. When your hands are dry, though, the controls are very, very responsive. I’ve never had a problem with it not responding to my dry hands on the first try.

So, the touch screen controls are definitely unique. I was concerned about them accidentally going all wonky during use, and that was a legitimate concern. If you turn on the vibrator and then go straight to playing with it, unless you hold it a certain way, you can easily mess up the vibration pattern you were on. It’s not even difficult to do. During testing for five minutes, I easily managed to accidentally change the intensity and the pattern at least 10 times. That was definitely, definitely frustrating.

By reading some of the instructions on the box, though, I found out that the vibrator automatically “locks” itself on whatever pattern you have it on if you leave it be for five seconds. So if you find a favorite pattern, give the vibrator five seconds, and then it will stay locked on this pattern. A specific two-button press will unlock it. This setting is a bit finicky, and I’ve had issues with it unlocking on its own, but it doesn’t change the settings nearly as much as when the vibrator isn’t locked at all.

I have to admit that I wish Topco had chosen a different way to go about this “locking” thing. If there had been a button configuration you had to press to make it lock and then another configuration to make it unlock, you wouldn’t have to wait around for five seconds like the current set-up requires. However, there still may be issues with the toy accidentally unlocking itself like it does now. If there was some sort of nice switch on the side or something, I think that would probably work best. The switch would “deactivate” the touch screen controls, so it wouldn’t be able to change settings.

The design of the U Touch Down can hit the g-spot if you have a pretty shallow g-spot. It has a g-spot-like design, but it doesn’t have much of a curve to it, and for that reason, you’ll probably only find that the U Touch Down hits the g-spot if you have a shallow g-spot that responds to most g-spot vibrators. Unfortunately, that’s something I don’t have. However, with the design of the vibrator does mean that the U Touch Down can be used as a regular vaginal sex toy or you can just choose to use it as a clitoral vibrator as well. The U Touch Down would lend itself well to either of those uses as well.

The vibrations for the U Touch Down are pretty good, actually. They aren’t fantastic, but they are stronger than “moderate”. I think that most women will be able to orgasm with the vibrations – though if you really require strong vibrations, it may not quite be enough. At the highest setting, I still found myself wishing that it had stronger vibration settings, but the strongest one did end up working out okay, too. So as far as vibration strength goes, I think it’ll be enough for most people. The vibrations are on the quiet side as well. They could be softer, but when it comes to the vibrations, they’re pretty hard to hear outside of a closed door. They could possibly be heard in the same room, but outside of a closed door, you’d really have to be trying to hear them. In the same room, music or television covers up the vibrations pretty well.

To clean this pink vibrator, you do have to be careful. This is because this touch screen vibrator is only splashproof instead of waterproof. That means that, if you get water in the wrong area, you could end up destroying the vibrator. Clean the silicone portion of the vibrator like you normally would, but when it comes to the control panel, switch over to a slightly dampened wash cloth and clean it that way. This will help protect the inner portion of the vibrator.

I recommend using water-based lubricant as silicone-based lubricant could end up destroying your sex toy.

I wish the packaging including a small storage bag to keep the vibrator in, but it does not. For that reason, I suggest you either keep it in the original packaging or get a storage bag to store it in.

Overall, the Topco Toys U Touch Down vibrator is an interesting change on the standard vibrator. The controls are surprisingly simple to use, and they’re well-done. I’d like to see a different method of charging (or a strong magnetic charger) as well as a different way to lock the vibrations once you find the perfect one, but the vibrations are okay, the silicone is rigid enough for nice clitoral pressure, and the vibrator is pretty easy to grasp and use. It’s not the best vibrator out there, and according to what I can see from some of the websites that are currently selling it, it’s very reasonably priced for a silicone, luxury vibrator. Thanks to Topco Toys for providing this luxury silicone vibrator for my U Touch Down vibrator review.
